Just because Wigan are a tiny club it does not change the fact they operate on a reasonable budget.

The facts are out there, have bottom 5 wages and finish in the bottom 5.

They are neither over or under achieving.

Mate it's a rugby town the RL team plays in the same stadium the football team wears scrum caps to fool the crowd - hardly comparable with anyone else.

The difference between us and liverpool is we have a ready made team were as rodgers has tryed to adapt his style to the team and is building a team . How many seasons did Jewell do in the PL though? Where wages similar say as % of turnover? what starting points where each mans respective squads at?

Not a straightforward comparison IMO.

Jewell inherited a team in the third flight and took them to a cup final and two seasons in the PL. Martinez took over a team tenth in the PL and has kept them in it.

And wages are higher as a percentage of turnover under martinez than under Jewell.

But it doesn't matter who bought them, what matters is that Martinez has had is squad progressively weakened since he took over.

He's not doing a worse job than somebody like Bruce had he been in the same position.
