And yeah, it is very Deus Ex. Which I don't see as a bad thing. There's one Deus Ex series, there's a million CoD clones. You cannot equate all first person games as if they're the same.

And the unreal engine 3 is a fecking engine. Lost Odyssey uses it. Mass Effect uses it. The new XCOM uses it. That's just a ridiculous reason to ignore a game. You are right of course that it's a massively popular engine for these grey, drab shooters, but there's nothing implicitly wrong with it.

I agree with your sentiments; that's probably why I think your opinion is so frustrating.

It's a genre.

http://www.techspot.com/article/140-21-first-person-shooters/

Genre: A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter.

;)

Other than that, I agree with what you said. The engine isn't the problem, but the way it's consistently applied to FPS'ers is. They all look the same; I think I'm just getting bored of this generation of gaming simply because every single game seems to be in the first person. You just reach a threshold; I've reached mine. I'm prepared to give this one a wide berth.

Anyway, lets all forget our disagreements, sit back and masturbate over this Watch Dogs gameplay demo.

Thank you! I forgot what this was called! Hopefully this will be a decent game when it comes out.

It runs on a brand new engine by the way and you can see the difference!

It's a turn based strategy game. The original XCOM is worshipped by strategy enthusiasts and so this remake had some high standards to live up to, but it's getting stellar reviews from critics and fans alike.

And no mate, it actually isn't a genre. Next time you post with the sole intent of making me look wrong, make sure that I'm actually wrong!

I am one of those original geeks. Played the hell out of UFO: Enemy Unknown (later renamed XCOM and renamed again), XCOM: TFTD and the not as good Apocalypse.

I will be getting the new one (as soon as my computer finally makes it to the southern hemisphere)

If you stopped playing first person games, you wouldn't play portal.

That alone shows you'd be wrong.

Yeah, but I'd avoid utter sh*t like...

... so it's worth it, totally worth it.

Nearing 30 hours on Oblivion now.

Fantastic game, I came to it late as well. Shedloads of character.

That looks amazing... gameplay looks interesting, I hope it works well, cos then I'd defo want that.

Dishonored is so, so, so good.

Sod the people saying you can beat it in a few hours. I spent 4 hours on the first chapter alone -- there's so much to explore and the patient stealth route is so rewarding. The levels are brilliantly designed to allow a hell of a lot of choice constantly. The powers are ace too.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a completionist too. Spend an age on each section.

I have tried the non-lethal route too, but I do enjoy stabbing people in the neck a little bit too much to see it through.

I wanted the pacifist achievement and then realised the ninja people at the very start that attack you count as kills. I wasn't sure how else to tackle that situation so I killed one as I thought that was the only way to progress the scene.

Nonetheless I've been enjoying the non-lethal route since. I still take out most enemies, but just knock them out and then throw them in bins!

I've downloaded Resident Evil 5 from the PSN Store for free.

Is it any good? I know the new one is out but I heard the last one was decent.

Not had a chance to play yet.
