Computer games.

I loaded up an Everton team in player career Fifa20 with Messi, Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Neymar and and the Manager still pics Bernard and Richarlison to start. Just so Everton.

Trying Kenshi atm, can't believe how hard it is. Good game tho
On sale on Steam now. Picked it up for about £14. I've had Bannerlord for my fill of rags-to-riches sandboxy gameplay but seeing a post on reddit GameDeals saying the devs promised Kenshi 2 as a free upgrade to the first sold me on it.

Anyone played Horizon Zero Dawn?

I'm not usually in to sci fi/fantasy games but I'm looking for another open world type game and the graphics on this in particular look brilliant.
I’ve seen a few people say similar. It’s not my sort of game but I figured if it’s so good then I might like it anyway. I’ll probably go for The Witcher 3 instead, which also isn’t my normal game but it’s so highly rated.

think I recommended it a few days ago to you

I have never bothered to platinum a game before but I found HZD such an enjoyable world and the combat never got dull so I managed to do it for this one. I think stick with it through the first section and the story is great, I can definitely imagine them making a movie of it. (However the in game dialogue is absolutely dire.)

in many open world games you get a bit bored of fighting the same enemies, but with HZD I was always distracted and tempted by the herd of beasts off in the distance, to go and take down a few more.

I might be biased by it basically being hunting dinosaurs and me loving dinosaurs and Jurassic park and all that but I genuinely thought gameplay wise it was top notch.

Witcher 3 I am struggling to get into. I was playing it a couple weeks ago and it’s a bit of a chore for me, but it could be because there’s so much to it and if you are not grabbed in by the controls/combat the lack of any kind of initial learning curve to ease you in to the game can put you off. I put it down and have been playing Mario Odyssey since until I decided to finish TLOU again starting the weekend gone. Both games really highlighted to me how the Witcher is not really a pick up and play title IMO

I’ll probably hold off buying either for the meantime as I’ve got myself hooked on Kingdom Come: Deliverance and it’s a complete life eater. I’ve never properly played an RPG before and I can see how people get hooked and spend hundreds of hours on them.

One of the things I like most about it is there’s no sci-fi or fantasy elements to it and it’s very realistic in many ways. You start out as a peasant who is useless at everything and have to learn how to do everything from scratch, even read, which is ridiculous in all honesty but it gives you an idea of the depth to it. Every battle, even 1v1 is a huge challenge where you can quite easily die, so It’s a refreshing change from playing as a hero who is tough as nails from the off.

It’s based on true historic events too which is pretty cool.

Didn't know that! That's a great deal! Can't wait now

I've no idea what's going on with it anymore. If you find out please tell me because I want some value to finally come from that $30!

This guy seems right in the detail: https://www.boredgamer.co.uk/

I can't find it on his site, but I am sure in one of his vids he said they have an actual investor now and they have told them to get on with Squadron 42, beta possible at the back-end of this year I think? (apparently 2020 is what they told the actors they motion captured)

From what I can see, the star citizen bit is mostly just side quests filtering through, the only thing that is abundant is the number of ships you can buy.

Yeah, it is all bit odd though @Black Belt Jones, the most expensive game ever made was Destiny, I think? at $200m? I was gonna caveat that this was done by an actual studio, but apparently CIG have 475 staff, so it's not like 3 guys in a rented office somewhere!

Hoping someone picks up a similar concept for PS5 or something, chances are that'll come out sooner, even if it's only currently an idea floating in someone's head.

I love W3 but really it's the story and atmosphere of the open world (and gwent, obv) - the actual gameplay is nothing special, combat is just R1 spam etc. It also suffers from immense item bloat where all of the 100s of swords, armours etc make little difference, which is giving an illusion of depth that isn't really there. So if the story isn't really grabbing you then it might be hard to get started.

Yeah there's a lot of stuff out there claiming it's a giant ponzi scheme, which it clearly isn't in real terms as there is an obvious product there and a degree of transparency around the company. Pseudo ponzi-scheme maybe, if they continually drive fundraising with model spaceships (?!) and a basically unplayable game that never gets finished.
I'd laugh if they pull it out and it's a game for the ages or something like that, but really when does that happen ever with projects like this, in any medium? Films, music, even books - massively delayed, hugely over-budget, totally mismanaged - points to serious trouble with the creative process.

I’d say it’s just about a ponzi scheme. That guy has obviously pocketed a good bit of the funds and they are nowhere near delivering and probably never will.

I’ll be fair to the guy in the sense that I genuinely believe he had good intentions at first, but his ideas were WAY too ambitious and SC had no chance of ever being completed unless they hired literally every talented game designer in the world, put all of those funds to good use and were 100 percent dedicated to getting the game out on the shelves. Greed just corrupts people a bit
