Really enjoying Dark Souls - right up my street, difficulty level is just right.

Played the Witcher 3 last year and it's an interesting comparison - the story of DS is nearly non-existent and feels meaningless, but it's clearly an absolute classic game. Witcher 3 was also great but the storytelling / characterisation was super strong, without that it probably would have been quite generic in gameplay.
I felt like the obscurity of it all kind of worked in its favor. It didn’t feel like a hand holding experience, and you were allowed to fill in the blanks yourself. It was kind of refreshing- the fast travel system was awful though.

What are you playing on? If you enjoy Dark Souls and have a PS4 I’d strongly recommend giving Bloodborne a try.

Do you mean because it makes the game too easy for soul grinding etc? It is a massive change in dynamic when you can suddenly warp around the world.

I'm on the Xbox one #Deckard2049 so it doesn't look like I can play bloodborne, thks for the suggestion though. I didn't know big games like that were exclusive to one platform but I see that Sony have some ownership of that one.

It takes a while to unlock the fast travel (mid way through the game I think). It’s a very odd setup. Other than that I find the game to be the best out of the 3 and Bloodborn. I absolutely loved it

Had a go of the Resident Evil 2 remake "one shot" demo on PS4 last night.

MEGA.

Brilliant visuals and sound and the gameplay is the classic puzzle / conserve ammo set up of the original PS RE titles. Dripping with Romero atmosphere - the wounded officer at the start, the infected cops infesting the police station, the unfortunate bloke who gets pulled in two - just incredible.

Will definitely pick it up on full release.

Also currently playing Wipeout Omega Collection - Superb. Worth a purchase for sure.
 
Had $35 sitting in my PSN account left over for xmas waiting for any of the 4 games on my wishlist to go on sale.
Panicked this morning as I get and email saying I added funds and now my account has zero left.
Turns out my subscription renewed.
Gutted.
