Computer games.

Don't buy it for single player only.... seriously. Its a multiplayer game with one of the laziest single players you'll come across

if you want single player shooter go with Wolfenstein 2... best single player shooter in yonks.

Anyone that's actually considering buying this pile of trash should watch this video. If people keep splashing money at these disgusting developers, things will only get worse.

Played battlefront last weekend thanks to EA Access.

Just wasn’t fun or good. Not as bad as the last one but just not that good either.

Sad really cos it’s just a monopoly play by EA because of the Star Wars name.

Think I’ll stick to the Lego Star Wars game Xbox gave away for nish the other week.

Nah mate, here's the thing - that sticker book didn't cost you £60 to start with and it has no other purpose beyond getting the stickers to fill it.

Collectible card games have packs of cards which are simply loot boxes, like Hearthstone, but again - free to play.

As for the Kinder Egg, it's a chocolate novelty. You buy the whole thing in advance knowing it's a random toy - you don't pay £20 just to enter the shop in the first place and have the chance to spend more money once you're in.

I'm not going to stop 'whining' about companies encouraging kids to gamble. What you are saying is that cigarette companies should be able to advertise to kids, or the bookies should allow 13 year olds on the fixed odds terminals - because it's "their product", "they don't owe us anything" so why regulate it?

That's why I have the issue - not because it's a gaming issue; it's an exploitative business practice feeding on the vulnerable. It's not a "choice" for some people, so when gambling is included in a game, when they bought in to simply play a game, then you are preying on those with those personality weaknesses who have to have what's tantalisingly within reach if they "get lucky".

If these games where free-to-play, you wouldn't hear a peep from me - but it's a full priced product that ropes you in once you've already paid an entrance fee.

Your point of view is that of the Belgian gambling commission. It's possible that the game will be taken off the shelves and that EA will get a fine over here.

I don't know where that will end though; tons of games use a similar mechanism.

Yeah it's a weird one because obviously it's not exactly gambling by definition as you don't stand a chance of winning a financial reward. But that's the issue - whether the product on offer is akin to a financial reward, as in do the loot box contents have variable monetary worth or are the "rare gun" and "cosmetic item" the same thing, so the random nature of the loot box doesn't matter as there's no variance.

My view is that they do because the game places value on certain items and traits over others, so the loot box "roll" is basically the same as a fruit machine landing on a £2 payout or £200. The law needs to catch up, but where a game has "tiers" of rewards, or "parts" that you have to gather to make a reward, then the game is defining a value to the roll and it is therefore gambling.

An actual balanced review from someone who doesn’t care about pleasing the hordes of fuming neckbeareded neeks. Of course, the neeks got mad and massively down voted his video because he didn’t call it the absolute worst thing ever.

With respect, I don't really see what you're trying to prove, mate. If you don't see a problem with paying for a game and then paying again to help unlock stuff within the game then good for you. I find it weird that you're surprised people have a problem with it.
