The current board cant possibly lose money on their "investment", they paid roughly £40m. And havent invested 1 penny. The debts have continued to mount and it could be said there hasnt really been any profit growth. So in most other "businesses", surely the banks would have closed it down by now?

As long as the club services its debts, why on earth would the banks close it down??

I knew I'd get the blame. Davewrong.

Damn me...damn me to hell and back.

Oh hell yeah.

Revenue generated from the sale of match tickets and corporate hospitality rose to £21.9 million whilst the cash received from television was up £2 million to £48.6 million, reflecting a record number of 17 live televised Premier League games involving Everton.
Turnover overall increased £4 million to £79.7 million, which is a new Company record. However, this was offset somewhat by the increase in the wage bill to £49.1 million – a rise from 59% to 62% as a proportion of turnover.

As a result of the increased turnover, and further investment in the playing squad, the Company posted an operating profit excluding player trading of £6.3 million. The inclusion of the amortisation of players’ registrations of £13 million gave rise to an overall operating loss of £6.7 million.

So we actually made £6.3m before 'player trading'?

It's player depreciation of 13 million, contracts getting shorter and players aging, that wipes out our profit and puts us on a 6.7 million operating loss. Be interesting to get to see the more detailed figures when a shareholder erm... shares them.

I'm no financial expert, but it doesn't look good like, does it? You would expect a savage attack on players/wages soon at this rate given they're running out of track at expanding the business.

He's just threw a graph at us.

Its all about wages man, ace players cost money.

I like a good graph me, especially first thing in the morning.

Surely some players have increased in book value over the last 12 months too? Rodwell, Pienaar even Gosling have added to their potential sale value you would have thought.

I dont think they can count that in accounts, players have a value, which is tied to the contract and length, they dont have sale values as such.

My PA answered it for me mate.

Ahhh makes perfect sense, thanks guys. So if Pienaar signed an improved longer contract then he would count as a larger asset in these figures for next year.

If he signs then we overtake Real Madrid in Deloite & Touche or something.

A figure in isolation like this isn't really worth much though as we're not operating in isolation. How does our profit each year compare to other clubs in the division?

Go easy Bruce, were moving into the realms of graphs here. It must be encouraged.
