Current Affairs Climate Change Demonstrations.....

Genuine protest should not be made to the inconvenience of the public, particularly those trying to get to and from work.

I'll admit that I have a pre-conceived negative perception of environmentalists.

When I was younger, I always thought of them as well-heeled folk who always had plenty of time on their hands to protest, whilst parents in families like mine were working for the man all day, and were consumed by exhaustion when they got home.

That's still the impression I get from Green Party members too, not that being comfortably off negates valid concerns and opinions on their part. Locally I just haven't come across anything other than a fairly narrow base of society - good incomes, well-educated, and well-travelled amongst their membership.

If the police cant cope get the army in......oh that water cannon would have been handy now too.........

Crack some heads huh comrade?

Hey if the miners got the treatment, why should this lot get dispensation - less police to cope with these demonstrations ok if they are peaceful , but yet closing roads near hospitals is a disgrace and they should be dealt with by the law so if the police are short of manpower we have a paid army sitting around use them in the effective way no violence just send them in to a safe area to demonstrate their feelings about climate change - they should try doing their demonstrations in China first or Russia , and see how they would get treated......

I'm not sure MACA or MACP extend to removing peaceful, yet disruptive, protests. Some might consider it an overuse of powers.

I agree Joe. They're all bloody socialists anyway. Should be sent off on one of them yachts that Comrade Banks thinks will have a leak in them so we can carry on making Britain Great Again.

On the plus side, it’s only causing problems for Remainers in London, us Leave folk in the country don’t really care apart from its effect on law and order.....

While I agree with the cause I do have to say I find it's participants embodying just about everything that is wrong (or most of it) with left politics. What's the phrase "boiling p*ss" they be driving some of the more ardent brexiteers to apoplectic rage!

We should definitely base our approach to legitimate protest on that of police states. That's a concept with no dangers at all.

I presume this is only for protesters you don't like?

Look just let them demonstrate peacefully in Hyde Park not blocking bridges near a hospital, the miners were fighting for their livelihoods on closure of pits that the then Thatcher government denied would happen....
The brutal way they were treated was way overlooked.....
Oh and the they did shut most pits instantly on a redundancy programmes closing nearly every pit in the UK ....
China still uses fossil fuels to generate electricity......
The UK have reduced coal to a minimum.....
Hence my point they are demonstrating against a country who is way ahead of many others on climate change.......

It's always interesting to see what the right wing, anti-working people think. What was it that turned you away from supporting the working class and rights to protest, Joey?
