Current Affairs Climate Change Demonstrations.....

I am a big supporter of cleaning up the planet and you will get no arguments from me on this. I would also like to see the complete stoppage of the use of plastics to wrap foodstuffs, tooth brush heads and the like. Also can you get these kids to stop the use of biomass electricity generation. We are deforesting large parts of North America to put wood pellets onto polluting ships for transport to the U.K. to burn within a power station, contributing more carbon dioxide than coal. I’m all for cleaning the planet and having sustainable energy sources that don’t pollute, but somehow the green people don’t like nuclear fuel......

I'm actually quite in favour of nuclear energy - but I realise it's largely a non-starter now. The cost hasn't come down since its' inception and with the likes of Fukushima in the last decade showing we're still making stupid unforced errors with the technology... yeah, it's probably not the solution.

To explain myself better @peteblue.

The environment is suffering because we have abused it and continue to do so. But then environmental concerns were non existent when most of the decision makers were growing these giant pollutant industries.

If we can educate kids on the right way now then maybe these concerned kids will indeed make a difference.

Just like @JEBUS_LIVES and me when we are Supreme Court Judges ;)
lol I think that may be beyond my legal expertise.

Did you clean up after yourselves ?.....

There was quite a bit of coverage during the previous demonstrations that showed them cleaning up afterwards. Got the brushes out and everything, probably left the place tidier than when they arrived.

Fair play to them, past experience shows that governments and authorities pay no heed to polite demonstrations done on their terms. Civil disobedience is virtually always the only way to force the issue.

But just like similar people at various festivals chanting about the climate, environment etc etc, before leaving the countryside looking like a toilet, what will they actually do to either clean up the environment or direct their protests at actual things that may affect the climate.......
How would you suggest school kids take back control Pete?

I’m shaking my head at your critique of a youth movement not nailing the solution to creating a better environment as they skip double Maths.

Same as your previous questions of ‘did they clean up after themselves’.

You have long suggested on here that younger generations have it easy yet when kids are trying to make a difference for us all you just dismiss it.

Why is it that you only see these demonstrations in places like London and other large cities. I’m not aware of any demonstrations in our Market Towns or villages. Do our countryside kids just not care about this. Why are there no demonstrations in London against all those with chic wood burning fires......
There was one in my country market town today.
