Two things.

He is already an Everton player. chelsea will sell him to us, and probably connected in some way to the lukaku deal. But yeah i expect him to be confirmed as an everton player next summer.

He is a 21 year old african lad with no prior experience to english football. He might not be playing that well but he needs to bloody play and he isnt even getting that with us regulary. how can you expect somoeone who has never played english football and is still very young to adapt within a few sub appearances?

Kagawa / Forlan / Veron/ Jon Daal Tomassan off the top of my head. All players who were really good outside of england but didnt play that well here.
Isn't he 23 in Jan? Not sure what to make of him yet myself, but was under the impression he's older than 21.

i know what this sounds like but he is an african 23. (not false age lol )

How many african players develop at a younger age? They tend to get better with age and experience. I think only Et'oo can be claimed to be a young star but if you are a top striker then makes no difference on stuff like that.

Even the great Yaya Toure started massively improving only about what 3-4 years ago. Point is, Judge Atsu at 26 and plenty of experience, even if he isnt an everton player.

Football fans just lack any patience and in general judge a player with what they see on the pitch without taking into account any other factors.

If you look at the case of Atsu.

1) He's never played in England, the strongest league he's played in is Holland.
2) He's had to move to a new area.
3) He probably feels like he has a lot to prove after not getting a look in at Chelsea, he looks shot of confidence.
4) He won a cup with Vitesse last season and won their player of the season so he must have something about him.
5) There isn't really enough to judge him on, I think he's made 2 starts and a few cameo appearances.

Steven Naismith is an example that players must be given time.

While this is all true.

Some players are just not very good, or I should say, not good enough.

Let's hope Atsu gets there with us.

I hope so.

It's almost like fans want their players to fail sometimes just for an ' I told you so '.

You say that as if we don't have a choice. He hasn't been great so far and by all accounts Roberto doesn't seem that keen to start the lad, so it seems to me like we'll swerve him. Unless you know something I don't.

Not at all. just makes sense that chelsea turn over a quick profit on him, Martinez has a winger he can keep this year and he strikes as the type of manager to want to keep a squad together and only let the likes of the drenthes go ala his predecessor.

He may not be great yet but even our manager has talked about second half of the season. McGeady isnt ripping up trees at the minute so there is always a spot in the team for him
