Didn't rate him against Lille and he's deffo not the finished article, but he must have something about him for Chelsea to want to commit his future and Martinez saw enough to want a closer look, maybe like a lid above said he needs some time to settle in England.

Chelsea seen him as a business asset the could get a decent return on. His contract was running out and they got to sign him for about 2 million quid, he already had a bit of a reputation from Portugal and was showing some promise so they could be pretty sure that the investment would pay off. I don't think they ever truly planned to bring him into the team, but knew they could flog him to a team like us, or if he fails here a Sunderland or QPR.

I dunno, honeslty, you never get the feeling he's about to just ruin people like when Gerard had the ball at his feet. Of all the times I've seen him I literally cannot remember one instance of him just blowing past someone.

I believe very player deserves a chance to impress and shouldn't be written off without one.

But he never plays? So why have him?

We are desperately missing a Pacey wideman

Pace is desperately lacking throughout the side we look so slow and ponderous. This boy has simply not been given a chance to show us what he can do. 15/20 mins here and there is completely meaningless. I'd start him against Hull and if he does well then again against City.

I've not seen much to get me too excited, but the same is true of McGeady. However, one thing we know McGeady can do is cross a ball from a tight space with both feet. Still, maybe start him against Hull

Whenever he has got on the pitch he's looked poor. That is why he hasn't been given many chances.

how often have we started a game with two genuine widemen in the side? especially compared to last season, it's an issue right now and we could really do with pienaar finding some form and fitness
