Chris Brunt

Didn't West Ham try and fail to sign Dorrans? I haven't seen a lot of him. Every time I watch Brunt play, I'm impressed. He'll lay on a peach of a pass and then sprint to get in support of the striker. Pienaar and Donovan are the only players that I've seen bust a gut to keep up with the play for us recently.

He's at Newcastle, loan with a view to permanent deal type thing. And his leg exploded.

I'll remain optimistic that he won't go to new castle on permanent basis and will recover fully by next summer.

We missed out on Van Der Vaart...could have tried doing something to get him in....8 million!! That is what was needed to get a STAR player at Everton...one who could attract others.

So hopefully Ben Arfa will come at Everton someday in the near future and he looks ace already..won't need a Van Der Vaart anymore

We're broke, which is why we couldn't follow up our interest in Ben Arfa. Van Der Vaart's wages would have been too much for us. Even if we could compete, London would still hold more appeal than Liverpool. We're going to have to do some wheeler dealing to free up cash and pick up players with potential. We simply can't afford the finished article.

We have saleable assets in Yobo and Bilyaletdinov, both players could raise us around 10 million I reckon, in and around that anyway. If worst comes to worst, we've also got players like Rodwell and Fellaini.

I like Brunt, he's added much more creativity to his game over the last year or two. Used to be one of those average left sided players with a decent cross but West Brom has moved him around the pitch much more, using him in wide right and central positions. He's intelligent, neat and tidy, has a good left foot and can see a through pass. Similar to Bilyaletdinov really, but much more accustomed to the League.

The problem with him is like Bilyaletdinov, he wouldn't really fit in anywhere. I think Pienaar's position needs to be filled by a similar player, a right footed playmaker who cuts inside so Baines' attacking qualities are complimented. Playing a left footer infront of Baines wastes him in my opinion. On the right handside we obviously need an outlet, pace and dribbling ability.

He can't even make their first Eleven though.

Think that's more down to Di Matteo and his tactics than him being poor. He's 23 I think and was their stand out player in the championship last season.

They're on a winning streak and 4th in the prem...dont think he'd want to change how they're playing at the moment.

Sure but my point is they play with a three central midfield and when he wanted to toughen then up by bringing up Scharner, Dorrens was the one he dropped not Mulubu or Morrison and certainly not Brunt.

If Di Matteo, who knows him as well as anybody, sees him as their most expendable midfield player I think that's a warning sign.

They could've sold him to West Ham but didnt. Scharner and Mulubu seem like their insurance in the midfield...

And Dorrans is a left footer and a winger I think...and Brunt seems to be in better form.

Isn't Yobo close to the end of his contract? I thought we loaned him out to get him off the wage bill. I think we'd probably take a loss on Bily if we shipped him out now. It would have to either be some player or a major rebuilding job to sacrifice either Fellaini or Rodwell to raise funds.

I would presume that West Brom would only sell if they went down or if the offer was too good to refuse. Maybe we could interest them in some sort of swap? Brunt has all the ingredients to do well: he's the right age and physique; he reads the game well; and he appears to have the right attitude.

Personally, I feel that wide men cutting in congests the midfield. Saying that, Brunt would probably come inside to dictate play anyway.

He signed a new one just last season mate, which makes it all the more dissapointing his departure this season. With money potentialy coming from Bellfeild i wouldnt be surprised to see Landon on a permenent deal and one of Brunt or Eagles, i think Adam will come as well, judgeing by the amount of work Davey has put into scouting him.

I havent ruled out Gueye either, safe to say he is quality in the Zog mould.
