2019-nCoV: preliminary estimates of the confirmed-case ...

The information from China and was analysed by scientists in the West in early February, is providing evidence about what the virus is and how it's spread. Scientists are very grateful for the honesty of Chinese public authorities,

"This analysis is made possible by the willingness of Chinese public health authorities to broadcast valuable information, the dedicated efforts of many volunteers to curate data in real-time, and rapid publication by experts working closely with patients and authorities. The spirit of open science around this outbreak is remarkable and is a great benefit to those preparing around the world".

Without this information from China 'modelling' was not possible.

There's a surprise, you agree with dave.

I owe you an apology mate, I thought you were some Russian bot, but it turns out you are a Chinese bot, again apologies.....

Guilt? For a virus that may or may not have made its appearance in their territory?

They reacted with ruthless efficiency, making all the right decisions after a fashion. Their actions gave our government and others in Europe a couple of months to learn lessons and prepare. They didn't though. If you want to start throwing blame around look closer to home.

And China's largesse is helping people here in the west. I could give a flying one if they make diplomatic capital out of doing that.

Bravo mate. Not even the Chinese have the front to put that one up.....you’re definitely up for the Chinese Medal of Friendship......

The level of anti-Chinese sentiment, I've noticed, has been building for a long time on this forum - seeded by a clutch of posters. The Honk Kong riots thread was the first time it (and they) came to my attention.

But back to the issue: the virus that has had such a global impact has more to do with globalisation than where it may or may not have originated, surely? Travel and trade. That would be the rational way of looking at it. But some here take the Trumpian view of it being 'Dat Chineez dizeez lad'. Pretty sad really that other posters have been duped by the new cold war posters.

The only thing that matters is people getting the help they need. China providing it means next to nothing.

Nope. But you know that, because I spent a number of posts in the last two pages telling you that I'm no fan of China's domestic or foreign policy...and you chose (again) to ignore it.

Far the hard of learning:

China - on their response to Covid19, snuffing it out and then offering advice and resources to countries still struggling with it - need to be commended.

You mean the Chinese effort to keep it under wraps?

Yea, job well done. They have not and will not be honest about this. They're restricting their own academic research in what can be published. They don't deserve any commendations while they send out masks here or there when they won't release accurate information that can further scientific research.

Commend them, eff that
