Woke up this morning still fuming. Tried staying busy all day by building a rotunda. Still fuming.

I couldnt find the quote but i read in this thread earlier people commending the performance? We had a 2 goal lead and pretty much cowered with our tails between our legs. The crowd were dead quiet and we were ontop dominating. Then just dropped off completely and let them do what they pleased.

The first goal was on Howard for the most part but Jags is well past his best as well and it showed last night. Lacking match fitness or not. The second goal was a deflection but you could tell it was coming. We didnt pressure at all and just let them camp in our half. Was always gonna happen in my opinion with the way we were defending. Deflection or not.

That was one of Barkleys worst games for me aside from a few turns and runs. Any good he did he basically undid straight away with bad passing or bad touches. At 2-0 up i would have dragged him for Gibson and shored up the midfield. Backseat driving i guess.

Was it me or did anyone see the 7 mins announced and straight away you had sense we were in trouble?

It honestly felt like the ref was just happy to keep playing until they inevitabley had a chance. It honestly felt like an eternity sitting there with my hands up yelling at my tv that time was up.

Spoke to one of my Chelsea mates today who reckons it was a line ball offside. We arent friends anymore because i raged killed him. When i really think about it, we escaped with a point last week at City after that penalty decision in the final minutes. In my opinion definite pen conceded by Stones.

Anyway back to my weekend of fume.

The Stones non-pen last week only levelled up the one against Stoke...

Apparently the refs excuse was that the lino believed the header to set up Terry was from an Everton player. Convenient excuse that.

Regardless of the stoppage time and offside goal we there the game away ourselves. You can not go to Chelsea and throw away a 2 goal lead in the manner and short space of time we did. Mirallas shops have been burying that through ball from Besic and we haven't learned about the over exuberance with the late 'winning goals'

If Moyes and Martinez were 1 person managing this squad we'd be absolutely flying. Just can't seem to get that balance right.

Wide awake. Still fuming. Koff football.

This. Stayed up late last night watching the nfl and there was a super tight decision like 1 / 1000th of a second over a touchdown decision. Within 60 seconds tv replay including 8 cameras from every angle had worked it out and you know what, no one on the pitch or watching on tv could have any doubts about the credibility of the decision.

We'd be 4th if we could hold onto a lead. Criminal that. You can blame the ref or the Lino but in reflection it's just seems like we don't know how to shut up shop. It's not good enough, it needs to change, I'm getting seriously pissed off with it now.

I think the worst bit, about yesterday was the fact I just knew we would concede.
There is an inevitableness about our crapness.
Dont know if I can be bothered to allow football to make me feel this way.
There are not enough good times to balance it up and make it worth it , an amazing Besic display here and a great Deolufeu move there is too little, its just too much frustration.
I will make sure I am doing things amd being away during all games. its easier.
If Everton was a woman I would have left her.

Having reflected on yesterday I think the comments about game management are still valid but also I think we need to factor in tiredness. Chelsea changed their tactics on going two down playing long on a few occasions but also zipping the ball around much quicker than in the first half.

Several of our players Barry, Lennon and Barkley (both subbed), and Jags looked out on their feet at times.

In addition the relative strengths of each bench should be considered.

Shows we have come along way now when we can be genuinely disappointed in drawing at Chelsea (and not just because of the terrible refereeing), we bossed the game for long periods, the first 10-15 minutes of the second half when we scored twice and Barkley hit the post showed how good a team we can become if we have the time to fully develop.

An analogy might be to compare the team development with that of Lukaku. A year ago we knew of his potential and he performed periodically and inconsistently with obvious weaknesses but we knew there was a great player ready to fully develop. I think the team collectively are in a similar position, probably a year behind Lukaku but the characteristics are identical, full of potential, periodic brilliance and weaknesses.

We are edging there, I really think winning the LC or the FA Cup would do for this team what it did for Kendall's 84 team. We can only hope it happens and enjoy the times its going well....

The strange thing is that it's actually in the ref's best interest to avoid drama like this. In terms of both his own performance and him getting mixed up in a [Poor language removed] storm with the fans and other managers. He had THREE opportunities to blow the whistle AFTER 7 minutes had been played and now he has to face a wave of abuse and suffer the consequences from his adjudicators for getting such a big decision wrong. Why run the risk of putting yourself through that?

In any case though it's our own fault. We cannot see games out and that is the problem we need to address.

If the goal clearly came from the referee's mistake, then how can it be our own fault?
