Naughty boys.

Chelsea have been banned from signing players in the next two transfer windows for breaching rules in relation to youth players, Fifa has announced.

They have also been fined 600,000 Swiss francs, while the Football Association has been fined 510,000 Swiss francs.

The ban does not prevent the release of players and will not apply to Chelsea's women's and futsal teams.

The Premier League club have been given three days to appeal against the world governing body's decision.

It comes following a Fifa investigation into the Blues' signing of foreign under-18 players, including former striker Bertrand Traore.

Based on documents from Football Leaks, French website Mediapart claimed 19 Chelsea signings had been looked at in a three year-long investigation.

Mediapart alleged that 14 of those signings were under the age of 18.

Be interesting to see what happens here. Imagine selling Hazard (he appears to want to go) and not being able to replace that sort of quality. Could effect our pursuit of Zouma if we want him as well

They have three days to appeal but with at least twenty-nine breaches, then I think they'll find it hard to argue that the punishment shouldn't be upheld.

Perhaps they'll argue for a reduction of the ban under appeal but again that'll be difficult if you consider that Barcelona had their appeal thrown out by the CAS.

Chelsea have been braced for this. They can appeal to FIFA & to CAS if necessary & even if they fail to get the punishment reduced/overturned, the timeframe of the process should grant them this summer to do any essential business #cfc

[2/3] The FA intends to appeal the decision. We will however continue to work with FIFA and Chelsea in a constructive manner to address the issues which are raised by this case.

Etc etc...this won't be settled quickly if past cases are anything to go by

Time for some rotation on the managerial front then before the next window.
