2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

The entire team makes horrible decisions it’s not a problem with any one individual. They’re not coached properly and there isn’t a strategy behind how they’re meant to be moving the ball, opening teams up and creating chances.
Where he is meant to excel, on the counter, he has consistently made the wrong decision this season. Yes, small sample size for him, but it will continue to be a small sample size until he starts to make better decisions.

Yes, obviously none of the front four played well today, but regardless of the circumstances or the coaching, if they don't take the opportunity when given, they won't get it when the others come back from health or AFCON.

The simple answer is he gives us a chance to score moreso than basically everyone else. He had 5 shots again today. Ok not always the highest quality but this is a team that struggles with that. After today he has more shots than KDH and is one behind Ndiaye and Grealish. It sounds dumb to say “he makes things happen” but that’s really what it is. He’s sloppy at times sure. I can’t deny that. But you need to make things happen especially as a #10 and he still does even on the days it doesn’t come off.

I don’t think he’s turd, crap, or dross. I think he’s above average. And I don’t think he disappeared. He makes some errant decisions and passes. But he puts it all out there until he’s called off the pitch. The bicycle kick was on target. He just combines better with Beto, KDH, and Grealish. When he’s on a higher caliber line up, he elevates. When it’s today’s starting XI, he plays to their level unfortunately.

Well that's the rub, yes. Do we want him making good decisions on 3v3 counter attacks, or trying hopeless over the head kicks from 16 yards out?

I'm not asking him to do things he's not capable of, he's shown these traits before.

I want the team to score more goals and I think he needs to be playing regularly if that’s going to happen.

Again I fail to see the point in getting riled up over decision making because it is terrible across the team. This is a coaching issue.

This is back to dire DM style football when he left us !
Alcaraz was doing us best in a team that struggled passing backwards mostly - only player attempting to have shot !
Or try to involve any forward who was in the box - yes he lost the ball - but our two man midfield needs another body in there- drop Dwight & that's the answer!

….so many promising situations broke down when he had possession, he was very wasteful when we needed him to be creative.

To blame his poor performance on Moyes is a post from somebody watching the game with a fixed view. He wasted a big opportunity today.

Can justifiably feel aggrieved as to why he was hooked before McNeil.

Dyche knows how rubbish we are minus the three players missing. We are getting zip from the next game with today’s front 5 in that formation.
