2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

Idk but given the managers usage rate id question why he was ever bought in the first place.
Because he was cheap and we needed bodies. Moyes has 11 players he wants to play in every match, and if they aren't injured they will play every match, except cup games which he doesn't care about. If we're keeping Moyes, which seems pretty nailed on, there is no point in building a squad because all you'll get is a lot of underused players sitting on the bench or in the reserves depreciating in value. Just let him have his 11 players and then tell him he can bring in 7 free transfers to bring on for 2 minutes or be forced to play through injury thereby giving him an excuse for every defeat. Alcaraz is pretty poor btw so we should sell him if anyone wants him

If that's the case why bring him on at all? Weird again today.
Suspect there's a few players we'd see an instant increase in performance levels for if we got a new manager in (Alcaraz, perhaps Dibling, Aznou).

Like with Dyche/O'Brien, Lampard/Doucoure, some managers really do let their ego get in the way of getting the best of out of their squad. It's akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I've always thought the best managers (e.g., Ancelotti) are able to be more diplomatic and pragmatic than that - by focusing on making the most of whatever they have regardless of the politics of narrative and control.

Some managers must like the option to blame what they haven’t got for any short comings rather than explore what they have got.

Agree with your point. But then Moyes would complain about not having the squad to compete.

But Alcaraz is a very good technical footballer, i really like him. But the issue like you say, no one gets a chance unless his main 11 is out.
