Changing Perceptions

Precisely....

Koeman is meant to be a 'stable option'
Gibson is a clown..

Daily were reading about having a huge wealth of riches and can sign anyone.

Well if thats true those are the players we should be moving for.

However apparently this thread is nonsense as we dont have money or ambition after all.

For a start, it is highly likely that the players Koeman wants to sign are all away playing for their countries in various tournaments around the world. No country manager would allow agents and others distracting their players during the build up and actual tourney.
No major signings will happen until Euro 16, Copa America etc is over.

For another start, Koeman is an excellent choice of manager and will take us back in to the mix at the top of the PL this coming season

It looks like the general thread opinion is "what a stupid thread".....meaning most people dont believe we have ambition to go out and make big signings...also not much surprise about Gibson being retained.

That's quite the opposite of what the press and ITKs have been saying. Seems to me that theres a lot of negative people in this thread (alot actually are posting replies which lead me to believe they arent Evertonians as they seem very similar to southampton and RS fans).

The Euros have started and some of the people posting nonsense in here claimed lukaku would be gone by now.

Negative people.
Lets qualify for the champions league in the next 2 seasons then move into our new waterfront super stadium in 2019 as a champions league team, then the world will know we mean business. That's the point we can start flashing the cash to the superstars and stand a chance of them coming, lets trust Moshiri and his decisions. I believe we will be back where we belong in the next 3-5 years challenging for the league

I do agree with you on the Gibson contract like, don't get it at all..

I imagine it went like this:

Hibbert, Osman and Gibson are all dead weight. Let's bin them off.

But wait, home grown quotas innit mert.

Ok so we have to keep one, who's the cheapest?

That guy. He's a living nightmare but maybe he can make a brew or something.

OK, shush now...."Darron, can you come to the office please"

Nobody is expecting Galacticos. There is no uproar. I personally just feel Gibson has nothing to offer a team with ambition that wants to be in the top 4, or as @The Esk raised beautifully, let's aim for the title next season as an ambitious goal.

We're not Arsenal. Aim for 1st and if you fail be happy with 2nd or 3rd. If you fail even more be happy with 4th. Champions League sure softens the blow.
Plus we hammered Grasshoppers so we'll be top seeds in the draw of course..... :/

1. I applaud you for your thread. But mate, Spud's want 100m for Kane alone.
2. 'Big signings' cost 'Very Big Money'. Ambition versus the reality.
3. Lots of surprise about Gibson. You mean in the media or on here? Have you read that thread?
4. The Press and ITK's. They say alot and it's always right? Is this up for debate?
5. Negative people on the Internet. Yes. As in life, reflected online. As is the Everton we've known for 25 years.
6. Calling people Kopites if they don't agree with you? No mate.
7. 'Some' Posters 'Claiming things'. Well take a picture of Kim K's bum and break the internet. That will always happen on a platform for free speech. Doesn't mean they're always right.

In my far off opinion, It feels to me like the last 10 years have laid the foundations for a cracking youth team to come through. The Moyes years didn't just steady the ship in the first team but right through the Club. It's been a frustrating time for us, a misfire with Martinez but yet I hope i wasn't the only one who noticed something in the last couple of games... the youngsters seemed to take me back to that Everton of old, I know you older fellers know what it was, a neat triangle, that burst of pace, that dogged determination and steel, a beautifully timed tackle mixed with flair which has been missing for a long time. The biggest move for me is to hold onto Lukaku, Stones and Barkley and build a team around them, and hope that the back room falls into place. Whatever happens from here on in, I know there is a generation coming through which we may not have seen in a long time, and that fills me with more hope than expensive moves in the Market.

Hope your feeling a bit better too lid.

Let the new guy unpack his case, put the filp flops away and program the way to FF in his satnav first. Nothing is happening until The 2 Major Comps. are nearly over

A dose of reality would suggest we have money for the first time in an age. Thing is, so do a lot of other clubs and they may have European football to offer players too.
If we throw big big money we may get the odd mercenary but in all they may not bring much apart from a huge entourage and a lot of sulking.
What I'm hoping for in this new era is having the funds to go out and buy players for all the positions we feel we need to improve on, instead of maybe restricted to prioritising 1 or 2 positions due to lack of funds.
Also hope that the money will allow us to get deals over the line (payet etc) because we are not now negotiating with a couple of beans and some "I owe you's".
I would love bale, kante, pogba etc but these players are going to have a lot more attractive offers than Everton this summer.
Maybe next summer, the summer after who knows but I'm feeling progress. It's been a long time coming but it won't happen over night.

This whole Gibson extension, for whatever reason valid or not, has come as a deflator really.
I can, in part, understand where Zatara is coming from.

I am hoping when Koeman is finally here, we see less Pellè rumours and more ambitious attempts at big names.
Yeah, I get you two confused as well...
