Central midfield vs Swansea

I honestly don't think he's been brilliant. He's done better than last time out though, so credit for that. Can't be easy for Osman and Neville to be playing alongside the other...

It's really strange for us to be short in central midfield. For many years we have been short in the wide areas but looking at the squad today Moyes would have had to compromise in other positions had he not played Neville and Ossie in there. He could have played Neville at right back and lose the attacking abilities of Coleman. Who then would have played with Osman in central midfield? Pienaar and restrain his attacking abilities and link up with Baines? Fellaini and again reduce his attacking abilities? Heitinga hasn't really shone when played there.
It's also incredible that Osman is now first choice in there along with Gibson. For most of his Everton career he has played on the right, occasionally left and sometimes behind a striker. I haven't seen the game today so not sure how he got on?
We really need Gibson to get fit and stay fit until another central midfielder can be brought in if the plan is to keep Fellaini up the field.
Hopefully Barkley or Francisco Junior can step up also.

Gibson is a must. He has been fantastic and integral to how we play since he joined.

A fit Gibbo lessens the concern for central mid.

Yesterdays game would have seen fewer Swansea chances with Gibson in the side. That for me was the biggest worry, Swansea should have scored as they were allowed to develop play in the midfield too easily.

I thought the central midfield was largely anonymous, I felt we played the game without them. Or maybe they're far better in an attacking mode. Neville made one telling contribution (block) but to be honest I can barely remember Osman being involved in any notable way.
