Given that we’d beaten Watford and West Ham at Home I’d say you are at the least wrong regarding Huddersfield and Swansea.
And Bournemouth and Stoke. We'd won 4 out of 7 home league games, but no way we would possibly have beaten a team who hadn't scored an away goal in eight games or a team rock bottom of the league. Absolutely unbelievable how some people will ignore actual facts because their da said this is the worst Everton team they'd seen for 98 years.

Big Sam “We've agreed a deal and are at the stage of personal terms. we might be able to get him registered in time to play in the cup."

By beating Huddersfield (home) , Newcastle (no wins in 8 at that stage, away) and Swansea(worst team in league, home).

Absolute rubbish he's been a miracle worker.

...after Southampton I couldn’t see us beating anybody. I honestly doubt any other manager could’ve accumulated the points he has in the same period. Just my opinion. I don’t know how things will go from this point in time but so far he’s done a brilliant job.

I get the impression with this lad that he was the best available at a reasonable price hence why we are signing him

Instead of paying silly money for a striker we have just moved for a striker at a good age with champions league experience and was willing to move here. After all if you had said a month ago we would sign a international striker who plays regularly in the champions league for under 30 million then anyone would snap that up.

Who knows, he may well be suited to the league and goes on to score double figures every year for us.

Only dissapointment is that we couldn't do this deal to get him in the team for tomorrow. The one time we needed a new player boost was tomorrow as it's season over if/when we go out.

hmmmmm, I'm giving big sam that one I'm afraid. funny how we miraculously turned the style on when he turned up! I'm sure unsy would love to claim it at his, i'll go 50/50 .. there you go!

Unsworth trained the side all week for the game, so that makes no sense.

We also scored several goals, which bar the Swansea game is absolutely not the Allardyce M.O.

Daniel Finkelstein did an analysis of this a few years back in The Times which showed the peak age for players by position. Forwards start declining from 26. He’s not the only one who has looked at this, see this analysis for example https://content.iospress.com/articles/journal-of-sports-analytics/jsa0021

I've read it mate a whilst back actually, it is for want of a better word, subjective and a matter of which criteria he was using, which players and ultimately what ranking system

For example - he uses who scored as his benchmark for determining a players performance due to age, and he decides to use a system to measure all players in a particular year to determine 'peak age' etc and when declines happen, instead of using a model of the same players measured over several years and to see how their rating moves up and down, to aggregate those figures and reach another conclusion.

He also doesn't note differences between leagues - but instead uses the 4 major leagues and amalgamates them for an average, given that certain leagues are renowned for being much more youthful, and other much older, this would alternate the results also.

It also doesn't take into account the older the player the more likely he is to have suffered a serious injury and thus to be negatively effected - so an injury free older player would not peak at the same age as a typical average one who has suffered an injury or two etc

In short it's an academic piece about a none academic sport with many variables which he only uses 'some of' which ultimately renders it interesting but ultimately pointless in terms of accurately determining a peak age of all players per position etc

On the one hand it's a pretty significant price. It certainly can't be thought of as a punt and he will be expected to come in and make an impact.

The flip of it is, I sense this market is going to go nuts once Coutinho leaves. They are looking at upwards of 130 million quid. Strong links to Mahrez for them, I sense Leicester may demand an obscene value for him. It will all trickle down again. Maybe by the end of the month, he will look quite reasonable.

As a rule, finalising as much business as possible as early as possible will seem sensible to me.

It would be just as easy to watch some full match replays on the internet.

Something you should do amidst your campaign to be noticed on here.

Speaking of, where is the weasel chart atm?

Bit late for that.

Actually isn't your sole contribution to do a countdown to the end of the transfer window?
