I wouldn't even call Coutinho "World Class" to be honest. Would he get in a World 11? Is he in the best 2 or 3 players in his position in the world? Not a chance for me.

Great player though and done far more to be given that label than Van Dijk has imo.

The thing is mate the players you quoted are world class well known players and are worth following. We are so desperate for a striker Besiktas are about to pull our pants down for, let’s be honest a complete unknown. So yes it does come across as a little desperate. He's 26, played how many european games - 6 Cl maybe the same in Eufa, for saints and Celtic, so like 2 seasons in his career and never past a group stage - played how many games in a top league - about 50-60 maximum? scored how many goals in those games for supposedly a deadly set piece man - maybe 3-4?

Coming back from a serious ankle injury, showed he's willing to down tools when things aren't going his way this season, he's lauded as the answer to the rs problems at the back, yet his best attributes are his attacking ones, rather than being a great defender.
