I agree mate, i think hel go like that, not sure if its the best use of the midfeild! Id like to see Cas get a run especially as Chelsea have theplayers who can exploit space in the hole.

*Neiler in a not agreeing with Moyes shocker!

Not like you mate...

To be honest Arteta defensive skills have looked top draw in the last three games, it's suprised me more than anything. His workrate, his battling qualities and his tackling especially has moved up a notch since he moved centrally. He looks like he's loving it which is good to see.

He's been our best defensive midfielder this season, without a doubt. The problem I have with Castillo is one two's seem to completely take him out the game and his positioning is still suspect.

I think there's potential there but I honestly wouldn't play him over any of our 5 midfielders. I just can't see how we can drop Cahill, Arteta or Big Mo at the moment. I think we need a centre forward in there aswell.

Im going to go with you on this mate, i wasnt for Arteta moving into the centre so what do i know!

I felt that Castillo was a bit off the pace in the first half but slowly worked his way into the match.

As everyone has said before, he's only played a few matches so he needs a run of games to get up to the pace of the Premiership.

I still think he'll be a good player for us.

That pass really sticks out in my mind. It could have cost us the match.

True, and he sometimes looked a bit of a carthorse, but he's not played for a long time so is bound to look rusty. Mikel and Jags lost/gave the ball away for all Villa's goals but no one is suggesting either of them get dropped because if it. Maybe the Chelsea game isn't the game to get match practise but after that I hope he gets a run - including against manure and the RS whose midfields aren't as good as Chelsea's

Indeed, as much as i said that Fellaini needed time, the same applys to Castillo, not many players can adapt to the PremierLeague within weeks, it takes months, hardest league in the world.

He'll be dropped and Saha will start I bet.

We'll only get a few chances so we'll need a striker to take them.

Bring Castillo on to either hang on to a lead or draw, or stop damage limitation if the game goes that way.

have to say i dont agree with the original post.

i thought castillo looked dodgy against city.
i think he let runners go too easily , he passing was erratic , his positional play was uninspiring , and a lot of the work he should have been doing was done by arteta.

for 70 minutes he looked like a wasted place.ie we wouldnt have been that much more against it if we had 10 men.

not saying he is a bad player , i just think he didnt play very well against city.perhaps thats down to being rusty.

I think his game was average. Looking at him individually, there were definitely areas to improve. His positioning does look out of sorts at times. I wonder if this is not partly due to the fact that he is more mobile than Cars and we are not used to his range. It makes me nervous though and there were some runners in the first half but he tightened up in the second. I thought his passing was reasonable outside the near disaster. Something to like about him is his confidence with the ball and how he keeps it on the deck. His tackle toward the end was excellent - faux penalty.

But to look at his game as a part of the whole, the midfield looked better than it has in several games maybe all year. City had a couple of attacks down the middle but it wasn't like they ripped us apart all game. Where was Robinho? To be playing such a good counter attacking team, we held our own pretty well up the middle. Not so easy considering additional threat that SWP was offering out them out wide. From a results angle, this is a midfield mix we simply have to explore further. It was encouraging.

I say that for the M-boro, Sunderland, Hull stretch we test run this same 5 man midfield. If Saha or Vic is fit that would mean dropping Cahill and that is heresy to most but I really liked the potential look of that midfield.

Top post mate!

Moyes says “Segundo did well against Manchester City. He was keen to make an impression and just wanted to make a tackle and when he got the ball, he gave it simply.

“I certainly wouldn’t be frightened to use him again. You know he will give you good cover.

“He’s a really good boy to have around, always smiling, always working hard and desperate to make a contribution.”

Cover?

He does seem to have a really good attitude.
