You also need to make sure the exterior of the car is absolutely spotlessly clean mate when using a sealant, as if it isn't you end up sealing any dirt / residue in.
Oh snap. I'll just have the dealership put it on and I'll do the wax. Is the sealant a permanent thing or does it need to be done every time I wax it (every 4 months)?

The dealership will do a good job mate as they're liable for anything you're not happy with. The sealant is more robust than wax as its synthetic and will last longer on the car - hence the price !

The dealer will instruct you on when it needs doing again.

Sealent lasts a few months but tbh i put it on every other wash.

If you want something that last much longer and protects best from stone chips get a clear bra or a paint protection film but you need a pro for that

Good call. My last car was a 2012 Honda Accord and it would get chipped by the smallest things. I think there was a scratch from where the seatbelt flung back to fast. I was livid to have to constantly fix things (aside from the dents and scratches associated with parking/driving in DC).

This one is a 2016 Volvo S60 so I am hoping it is built better and not subjected to as much crap from the road, but I may sleep better at night knowing I did all I could with a paint protectant.

Sorry to disappoint mate.

I really wanted a Mazda6 hatch or wagon, but couldn't find one in time as I was starting a job out in the suburbs. Only got a year left on the loan for this sucker, a year or two after that it's on to something more exciting.

Toyota Yaris 1.3 2003 registration. Only 50,000 on the clock since we live on fantastic bus route so no need to take car into city. Guy in garage who does MOT says "It's bomb proof"!

Hoping I'll never get a chance to test that out!

All time worst car I ever owned. Looked great, sounded great, you just never knew when the ignition immobiliser would turn off and allow you to drive the car ! ( got stuck in some very far away places as a result )

I didn't think it was actually possible to hate a car until I owned this Alfa.

Really though. A lot of us have really boring cars due to poor transit and urban planning (meaning lots of us rely on a car to get us to work), crap roads, and in parts of the country crap weather that will demolish anything fun in a couple of winters.
