Carra the clown to get the push?

I can't believe all the overreaction to the manc who only said "2-1 Jamie"
He will get done for using his phone and rightly so, but I thought he had lashed out with a foul-mouthed rant at Carracher.

Interestingly the world of pundits (Barton aside and let's be honest, he's hardly a paradigm of responsibility and positive public interaction) seem to be fully behind him after his apology. Presumably he's well known in these circles and if so the claims of "it's a one off" might be true, no matter how foul his actions were.

As I mentioned before, he'll be put on ice until the start of next season and then MNF will be relaunched and we'll all pretend this didn't happen.

Until the first spitting incident of the season.

Well tbh if they're not bothered if he's sacked or not then neither am I cos let's face it it's got jack [Poor language removed] to do with me or anybody else and all the faux outrage is quite pathetic especially the people who want the father arrested but By all means I've had a proper laugh at Carraghers expense and thoroughly enjoyed him being humiliated but that's about as far as it goes for me, unless he is sacked and I'll laugh even more.

I'd never put anything past somebody connected with the vermin to squirm their way out of a difficult situation, but he should count himself lucky that the police haven't got involved, never mind he will in all liklihood keep his job. Spitting on a 14 year old's face...

Not only is his previously questionable character now utterly unquestionable (he's an arse), his credibility as an unbiased pundit and journalist is now down the toilet. Too lose your rag in such a way after your side has lost is irredeemable for someone with that job. No Carra, you're supposed to sit there with a quivering lip and a face like a slapped arse like messers Lawro and Sourness.

Everytime I watch it I'm left with one question.

How has he not been sacked yet?

Me too mate. What kind of message does that send out to kids? Long as you say sorry, you don't know what came over you then all is well, spit away to your hearts content with minimal consequences. He hasn't even got an excuse that the bloke said something nasty to him to react like that.

He should be put in kennels with the rest of the yard dogs.

No surprise that the echo is totally supporting him. Personally I don't think the fact he does a lot in the community etc has got anything to do with it. Spitting is the lowest of the low. It has nothing to do with who he is, who he played for or the fact his mates say he's a nice guy really.

The lads got a foundation , didn’t you read the article?

I’ll be honest as others have said I mostly find it , it equal measure , distasteful and really funny and whether he goes or not is nothing to do with me . What does irritate is the media , Lfc and sport protecting one of their own , whether it’s “he’s not that type of lad” which I presume means he’s never spat in a kids face in front of me , well I’d hope not . Or listing of his charitable works which isn’t a million miles from saying at least the trains ran on time and I can certainly think of a few figures who raised millions for charity who have been rightly vilified. I certainly don’t think joey barton would have been afforded the same kind of defence nor I suspect plenty of others in the public eye .

It does show again that if you’ve got a few quid or a rabid cult behind you things generally work out ok.

The Echo: "It was indefensible - but we're going to defend it".
