Joking apart, a lot of sporting and cultural events need cancelling, postponing or being played behind closed doors to prevent the spread of this virus. The longer we delay the spread, the warmer it gets, and the more likely it is that the crisis period gets pushed into the spring and summer months and is more manageable by the health service.
If football needed cancelling, off the top of my head, I'd go with the top placed teams to get the corresponding European places, if not the title proper. And play off the bottom of the higher league and top teams of the lower league to determine the promotion/ relegation places. FA Cup place to go to the highest league position or even lottery of remaining teams in the competition. As for Europe - one leg rapid turn around of games once the crisis has passed if possible otherwise, start again next year.
Irish schools are off next Mon and Tuesday for St Patrick’s dayThey obviously didn’t wash their hands lol
Absolutely - I said this to my children and a couple of teachers yesterday and they thought I was mad, but I can't see anything else happening.Irish schools are off next Mon and Tuesday for St Patrick’s day
Then they close for 2 weeks on April 3rd for the Easter break
I will lay money that all schools will close this Friday until after the Easter break
I’ve heard of more cases ( not confirmed) today
Lots of families travelled to Italy for the mid term break in February plus school skiing trips
It’s only starting here but at least in Ireland we are being proactive
Ryanair stops all flights to Italy till 8 April
That’s for financial reasons though
The flights are empty plus they did not want you catching coronavirus on one of their flights unless they charged you for it lol
What would happen for next year's competitions though if the current football season had to be curtailed? I can't think of a scenario where everyone would be happy. Is there even a procedure in place for this? I doubt it, but would love to be proved wrong. There'd be lawsuits all over the shop if they did that.
Take us for example. In theory, we could win every game and finish in Europe, or lose every game and go down.
The teams signed up to a 38 game competition. If they can't complete that, it's null and void.
I think they'll play the last 5-6 behind closed doors but that still involves a few hundred people - if public gatherings are banned, it'd make sense to cancel the league.
I'd love it if it happened of course - would be hilarious - but even from an objective point of view it makes sense to do it if this gets to a certain level.
Great, 2 weeks of Fortnite beckons.Absolutely - I said this to my children and a couple of teachers yesterday and they thought I was mad, but I can't see anything else happening.

Anyway, let the league, UEFA, FIFA, etc deal with all that. I suppose it's beyond the scope of a GOT forum poster to work out the finer details of what to do in case of plague, pestilence or war (or whatever the rs heading to a title can be classified as).

Spain closes all schools and all La Liga games to be played behind closed doors
What does Boris do , let a few thousand Spanish supporters travel to Liverpool and Manchester to be in confined spaces and on public transport , bars restaurants, music venues etc
Sure it’ll be grand once they wash their hands

Agree, just rewind this coming August to last August, no promotion, no relegation. However unfair it would be to some clubs, it’s a world crisis ffs and serious measures should be implemented immediately.Whilst it is mathematically possible for clubs to get promoted, relegated there is no way you could just let it finish as it is now. Villa Norwich and Bournemouth would lose hundreds of millions and there 100% would be legal challenges.
If its suspended and they cannot finish it, the whole season has to be void and it starts where last season ended.

I’ve been asking what’s happening at our airports, but seen nothing on the news channels. Are arrivals just strolling into the country unchecked? Apparently they are, as my partners nephew flew in from S Korea yesterday and is now staying a few streets away with his mum. We’re not visiting anytime soon!!
I can only imagine it reverts to the situation prior to 2019/20. It's the only fair outcome really.
Agree on this, it sounds extreme but i can see it, i heard from a friend who has an Italian mate that over there they are not even trying to save the old people but are putting all efforts into saving younger people who have caught itThe cynic in me thinks this is one hell of an opportunity for the government to deal with the elderly care system problem.
