Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

BBC is right though.

I just mentioned, giving the European spots to those in European places currently, and start again, but relegation works on both fronts.

Look at teams like Barrow who could be promoted to the football league, who'd miss out.

What about Leeds and West Brom who'd miss out on a huge windfall? Unless they were to play a shortened year next year? Scrap League Cup it'd be a right mess.

Whilst it is mathematically possible for clubs to get promoted, relegated there is no way you could just let it finish as it is now. Villa Norwich and Bournemouth would lose hundreds of millions and there 100% would be legal challenges.

If its suspended and they cannot finish it, the whole season has to be void and it starts where last season ended.

Those three going would be great, so any opportunity of a legal / moral challenge should be avoided.

I think cancelling the Euros could allow leagues to catch up with suspensions plus prevent mass numbers of travel between countries.

However it money so they'll forget about lives and just think about the money which funnily enough is Liverpool's motto

Looks like Government care more about letting RS win League than saving peoples lives!
"The decision to delay closing schools and introduce other strict measures to combat coronavirus has been defended by England's deputy chief medical officer.

Dr Jenny Harries said experts are assessing new cases on an hourly basis to achieve a "balanced response".

She told BBC Breakfast new measures could follow as UK cases begin to rise rapidly over the next two weeks

In the UK, five people with the virus have died. There were 319 confirmed cases as of 09:00 GMT on Monday.

Dr Harries said the vast majority of those diagnosed with coronavirus in Britain are "pretty well" but that they may "feel rough for a few days".

She said cancelling big outdoor events like football matches would not necessarily be guided by science.

"The virus will not survive very long outside," she said. "Many outdoor events, particularly, are safe." "

Joking apart, a lot of sporting and cultural events need cancelling, postponing or being played behind closed doors to prevent the spread of this virus. The longer we delay the spread, the warmer it gets, and the more likely it is that the crisis period gets pushed into the spring and summer months and is more manageable by the health service.

If football needed cancelling, off the top of my head, I'd go with the top placed teams to get the corresponding European places, if not the title proper. And play off the bottom of the higher league and top teams of the lower league to determine the promotion/ relegation places. FA Cup place to go to the highest league position or even lottery of remaining teams in the competition. As for Europe - one leg rapid turn around of games once the crisis has passed if possible otherwise, start again next year.

"Like Serie A, the Japanese J-League has also suspended matches until next month.

The league's chairman Mitsuru Murai said they has reached a basic agreement with clubs to extend suspension of matches until at least 3 April."

could just end the season with all games behind closed doors and all rs can enjoy their triumph in the safety of their arm chairs.
The rest of us can just change streams.
Can you imagine the downer of having to do a title celebration in an empty Anfield.

Play behind closed doors,Sky would absolutely buzz being able to show every game their attitude would be sod the lower leagues and start the next season with a super duper Sunday live from Anfield as we interview Bishop,Quek Cillas ghost on why this means more

All La Liga games for the next 2 weeks to be played behind closed doors
Austria bans all public gatherings of more than 500 people
Britain: Use a tissue and wash your hands it’ll be grand plus we love our football and Cheltenham
Lots of Tories own racehorses
Czech Republic (with 40 cases) has banned gatherings of more than 100.
