Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

I cannot see this time frame happening at all

Firstly we haven't even reached peak yet and no restrictions will be lifted until at least 3 weeks after the peak.

Secondly, the amount of people I see on a day to day basis ignoring social distancing guidelines beggars belief.

For example, I work in the retail grocery area and the amount of people who insist that it takes more than 1 person to do the shopping is stupid. Every person extra is increasing the risk. Then you have shoppers in big supermarkets with hand baskets. That is not an 'essential' shop, but increasing the risk again.

As I'm driving around North Liverpool the amount of people hanging round in groups is ridiculous, then dog walkers, how many people does it take to walk the dog?

Then those exercising whether it be walking, running, cycling, whatever it is, there is simply no need to do this outside. Exercise at home.

Co-vid is not going away anytime soon, sadly it seems some people cannot stay at home and this will have repercussions for all of us, and life in this country will not be 'normal' for a significant period of time.

Excise at home. Get a grip.

Is that the best you can do?

Are you saying EXERCISE at home cannot be done?

You do realise that people go for walks or a run for their daily exercise to get much needed fresh air into their lungs as not many would have yards/gardens to do so?

Yes that may be so, however I live in a small terraced house, with a small back yard, I can and do exercise inside and then if I want some fresh air, just sit in my oh so delightful back yard with a glass of something cold.

At the end of the day, sacrifices have to be made, if people don't want to sacrifice that's fair enough but the longer this goes on the more people will be affected.

The government aren't making the decision for exactly the same reason.
Why should the government make the decision. They'll give the all clear on the virus when it's the right time. If they issue as clear as possible guidance on the timeline as it becomes available, it's up to the PL and EFL to sort out what works for football.

At what point does it become not feasible to carry on this season, and that's getting closer and closer, is the time to declare it force majeure. Surely the football world cam point to travel companies and other sporting events and the entertainment industry that have had to pull events. It's just a matter of time now.

Good for you but what about those that live in flats that don’t have balconies to sit out on and have ‘a glass of something cold’

Sadly and not surprisingly, this dithering is just so typical of our governing bodies in English football.
They just need to declare the season null and void, pay whatever monies can be agreed between clubs, broadcasters and themselves, and then look towards a fresh start, whenever that may be.
The decision here isn't the hard part; it's the decision-makers who are making it unnecessarily hard.
A bit of certainty in these uncertain times would go a long way.

If you live on your own you can easily do an entire weeks shop with a hand basket, thus freeing up the trolleys for those that need them

Nice to see that you’re more interested in snooping on other people rather than getting on with your own business though

Good luck with trying to carry 3 slabs of lager and 2 bottles of jd in a hand basket
