Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Cretinous ?

Corbyn was the best chance this country had and it blew it. Years of Nhs neglect by the Tories and now it's saving lives they have the cheek to stand and clap it??

Corbyn would have actually given the NHS a chance to properly fight this infection if he'd won in 2017.

Instead we ended up with a posh toff who despises this city nearly as much as we despise him.

Same old, same old.

It was Labour that destroyed the economy in the first place, leading to 10 years of cutting back.

Corbyn would've destroyed our economy and have nothing left to invest in the NHS. Luckily, enough sane people in this country could see that and voted accordingly.

Every team that is safe should then just put out a team of under-18s, even against teams threatened with relegation. That would cause an absolute thingy-storm!
Well cynically you'd play your dead wood and players coming to the end of their contracts if you were safe. The league would have to guarantee their safety. Cuco and Niasse to the end of the season. Integrity? What Integrity?

There's health and safety considerations for younger workers that don't have the experience to realise what the hazards and risks of a job are that a more experienced person might have. Also the under 18s still potentially have value to the club.

Reported for off topic

Keep the political crap in the current affairs forum

Thanks

And @radiostar
Take the political argument/debate/discussion to the Current Affairs forum, it's off topic in this thread.

Why play them behind closed doors?

Either COVID19 isn't a threat and people can gather in numbers, or it is a threat and people can't gather.

22 players on a pitch together is a large gathering, as well as all the coaching staff, subs, logistics, TV etc.

A game played behind closed doors will still feature hundreds of people working in close proximity to each other.

Or does football still think it's immune for some reason????

Agreed and what about social distancing?

Even if the testing was ramped up enough it would take a long time for people to be cleared given we have 65 million people in the country.
Or do the premier league think they can jump the queue and get all staff and attendees tested because they are so special? And if they do manage to get tested in a ‘hasty’ manner I hope there’s a big outcry.

Most sports have abandoned stuff running into late summer - even ones where there is no contact. I don’t know why the football authorities think they are above everything...or maybe I do..

behind closed doors matches would still need government approval right?

even then players might still refuse to play. what happens then?

Plus would it get HSE approval. Can you imagine how many RS would be outside the stadium when they would be playing? The would need to be policed (more than most). And emergency services would need to be at hand. Even when all of this is over they are going to need a break. Accrued holidays etc

the only thing i can think of is if they agreed with the government to employ private security instead of using the public police and used the clubs health professionals for this event instead of of public medics so that it would not mean that they use up any of the public resources. If they find a location to play the games near a hospital they might be able to get away with not having emergency services at this event.

Really can't see that mate. Home games will have to be at home and same for away. How many security guards would you need for say the whole of Stanley Park

So the fa have confirmed they have expunged lower leagues and women's leagues today...
How can they justify carrying on any other football?

This isn't the appropriate forum for political discussions.

Merseyside police couldn’t catch one of the thousands captured on actual video smashing up the man city coach so I wouldn’t hold my breath that they’d be objected too much to anything to do with that shower .
