Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

If you're furloughing non-playing staff, it's immoral to keep your playing staff on full pay. It's not like the players have anything to do in this situation, they are effectively redundant.

I've got no problem with clubs paying their players as normal as long as the rest of their employees are treated in the exact same manner. But the reality is, the clubs are just cynically taking advantage of a scheme to lighten the lowest hanging fruit of their payroll and getting the taxpayer to pay for it. The government furlough scheme is designed to keep businesses running. No Premier League club would go out of business because of non-playing staff wages.

The fact they have reversed the decision and thus proven they can fund non-playing staff shows how much of a scumbag club they are.

I bet there will never be a specific vaccine for Covid-19. We'll build up natural immunity, it'll become an accepted illness that affects the most vulnerable people, and there will ultimately be no money in pharmacy companies making a vaccine. The same thing happened with SARS.

It's possible a vaccine will be made, or possibly not. I guess it will happen but it'll take about 18 months.

SARS was successfully contained, it's not a seasonal illness, it's gone since 2003. Just for clarity it's not an accepted illness in that sense

MERS is still ongoing however.

Indeed.

This is the strange thing for me.

I honestly couldn care if it never came back.

The lifelong spell it held on me has been broken.

And that makes me very sad :(

The last game at Goodison summed it all up.

Last minute winner!, ruled out by someone watching a tv screen, because an Everton player had been cleaned out in the box and thus was sat offside, but not interfering with play in any way.

So a penalty or a goal?

No a freekick to the armchair moneybag merchants.

The game died over 20 years ago sadly. Just needed a real world crisis for many to start to realise.

Someone has started a petition to cancel the premier league on change.org

https://www.change.org/p/english-fa...mpaign-to-avoid-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus

Signed, just as the new death toll for today (936) is announced - there will be several days of four-figure casualties very soon.

If the PL had any semblance of decency, they will end this farce now. In essence, the losses for clubs will amount to relegation-level damage.

So All 20 clubs essentially get relegated and replace those that will be made extinct by this evil pathogen, and we can all start afresh on a level playing field. Whatever it takes to make me love football again.

If they cancel the season, I don't see how they'd just award the trophy. There wouldn't be a title to award considering the competition would be cancelled.

If they're given the title but other parts of the league, i.e. - relegation are ignored, there would be hell to pay, particularly for Leeds and the other high-flying Championship teams who would miss out on promotion.

They either have to finish it (which appears to be almost impossible now), or cancel it altogether.

If they did somehow find a way to give the title to Liverpool but write off relegation, they'll always have that asterisk next to their name and everyone else will see it as void.
