Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

I appreciate I may be peeing into the wind here but try not to put too much stock into Mike’s claims. He’s certain I’m this other poster, is insistent I’m a nasty, unethical bloke who’s happy to see people die and is seemingly heartbroken / raging I’ve not been banned.

Whether you like me or not, or think I’m a tedious bore (or all three from time to time which is infinitely possible!) is another issue entirely, but it doesn’t really matter either way. We may disagree from time to time but, all friends here.

It’s not “my claim” though?

So come June 31st Ziyech is supposed to join Chelsea. If the league restarts after he's joined can he play?. Surely the integrity of the league fails if he's allowed but then Chelsea will argue he's their player so why not?. I've heard it mooted that players will have their contracts extended. On what basis can UEFA or any governing body unilaterally extend contracts for players who have agreed moves or who do not wish to stay at their present club after their contract expires i.e 30/06?.
He can't join Chelsea on June 31st, it doesn't exist,or does it? "Insert twilight zone music here"

Exactly, and who’s going to pay these extended contracts? We certainly won’t continue paying Oumar or Cuco a second more than is printed on their contact.

Imagine suing the league that you were denied a CL place due to losing Cuco and Niasse. Not even the rs would have brass neck enough to do that.

If football does get back in the next few months, surely it would make more sense to focus on finishing the cup competitions rather than the leagues?
These are knockout comps which can easily be completed in just a few weeks and allows them to be finished in time for next season's league to start.
The 4 fa cup semi finalists qualify for the champions league, the 4 losing 1/4 finalists go in the Europa league.

Simple.

The way the games authorities have handled this has been nothing short of disgusting. People are dying daily in depressingly huge numbers, the prime minister is in ICU in a really bad way, even those of us who haven't been directly impacted by the virus have seen our lives changed massively with this lockdown. Despite all of that, the people who run football have one goal and one goal only: finish the season at all costs. Its actually revolting how they've behaved during this. If ever there was a sign of how soulless and corrupt football is, it's this whole episode. This might be the end of the road for me. I don't know if I can continue to help finance these utter scumbags. I only hope that people begin to walk away from the game after this. Its only when the sewer rats at the top start to lose money that we'll have a real chance reforming the game.

Me. This serious episode in the life of our planet has shown just how shameless, greedy and uncaring certain sectors of humanity is. Football is top of that list.
It has changed my view on life in general.
