Can we still make it to Europe?

I had a dream last night we accidentally made it back in to Europe.

Honestly, if there is a year to "miss" Europe, I would think this is it. Most likely a new manager, World Cup so lots of players wouldn't even be playing during the qualifiers and after a disastrous year.

Love Europe and hate the idea that the Europa is a hindrance because we need to finish higher up the league which gives us..Europe? Just think this year might be a bridge too far.

Then again, maybe we get the new manager to use those matches as a way to get the team accustomed to his style? I don't know.

With a new manager and players, being in Europa might actually help. More games for players to get used to each other and what the manager wants them to do, in fixtures that are competitive but in some ways don't matter - we won't be expecting to go out and win it.

Anyone saying they want to give Europe a miss is daft. It helps build a platform and puts your name out there to players around the world. When people think of the Prem, they think of the current big 6. Consistent Europa and hopefully CL will change that and make Everton more attractive to players, fans and sponsors.

Your players also need to get used to European nights if they want to start winning European silverware.

Do we really want our season to start July again

Our recent away performance blew that opportunity most probably but is there still a chance even a slim one? Or that ship is long sailed?

7 games left, Tosun, Rooney and Theo seem like in form, Big Sam may continue his decent-ish picks (for sure, has to leave in summer though) what do you think?

No, or, at least, it's very unlikely. That ship sailed when we lost at Burnley
It'd need both Leicester and Burnley to be gash for the rest of the season, and arguably they have easier run ins than we do.

Qualifying for Europe (unless it's the Champions League) doesn't remotely interest me. The Europa League is not an exciting tournament and is overly-complex.

I don't think the hit your domestic form invariably takes is worth the pay-off for a slightly raised profile in Europe, and you'd only really start getting excited about it if you got to the Semi's. It's not worth the cold Thursday nights away in Russia or Albania.

If it was a straight, one-match knockout cup like the FA Cup, where getting through 6 or 7 matches gets you to the Final, I'd be all for it though.

Our next two games are against Man City and Liverpool

It's highly likely that the European places will be out of reach by the time those two fixtures are done with

If we're within 3 points of 7th place after those two games, we'll have a small chance. Anything more and you can probably forget it
