Call for EGM from Shareholders

H, I recollect being told that the stadium would leave us with little debt, would be world-class and it would be able to be used for other purposes such as rock concerts. In fact, these are the reasons that, although I was against the move, I still believed that Kirkby might be a solution to our ground crisis. As far as I'm aware, it turns out that all of this is not the case. I'm not saying we were lied to, but it certainly seems that the vote was held before the facts about the new stadium were fully understood. My personal opinion is that Bully engineered the vote to go his way by paying little attention to anything other than the best case scenario. Bill, on the other hand, was probably swept along in a wave of optimism at the romance of securing Everton's future. But that's just my opinion and I'm not passing it off as fact.
One of the main reasons I was against it was when you sat down and thought about the claims made they were just to good to be true, and lack of information was also worrying, But then it turned into a war where if you said you voted no it was because you liked the pubs in Walton or where KEIOC who also damaged the no vote.

No, I think the definition of truth is what the problem is. What is a "world class stadium", can any of these no supporters define one in structural terms? Because the idiots across the park are builiding a stadium worth £300m, does that make it "world class".

The illustrations ive seen of LFCs stadium leave me cold, all I think is, what a waste of money ! IMO, The Emirates is a great stadium, Allianze Arena is great, Zenits SP new stadium is great, El Camp Nou will be great after its re-fit, the proposed new Pompey Stadium looks fab.......and before anybody screams at me that we cant afford this type of stadium I say, yes, I agree. Except for Portsmouth maybe.......If somebody had given me a choice between the proposed Kirkby and Portsmouth designs, I would have grabbed the Portsmouth one hands down. To me a stadium has to be as exciting outside as inside ( New camp Nou and Allianz ) and theres will cost £100m

Someone on the toffeeweb article was slatting off Chelski's ground - crap ground they said because we will use the same builders. It was comfortable, unobstructed view, and horrors of horrors had shops near it. .....
It may not be "world class" whatever that means, but it was better than how Goodison is now.

I didnt know Barr built Stamford Bridge ?? it doesnt look like one of theirs, they must have employed and architect then....

As someone else has said, even if we re-developed Goodison, do you think that this could be done with no debt?

Of course it cant be done without debt, ( we know that now ) but I bet £80m could go a long way to building 3 new sides at Goodison....I would even accept basic to keep EFC at their home.....

Finally, did you know that when the jokers across the park build their new stadia (if they ever raise the money), it will be on a 999 year lease?

Who cares......if EFC stayed at Goodison they would still own the ground, eventually pay off the mortgages on it and it would remain an asset to them ( for more future borrowing haha )

We have very few assets once bellfield and Goodison go:o:o training ground is leased as will be our new home:@:@ on the bright side the players are owned except those on loan:lol:

Any difference to what? The EGM is only being called to ask questions that been avoided up to now.

But would we ever compete and go onto the next level? The answer is probably no

Will somebody please clarify why........If Everton Football Club played their home games in a new stadium in Kirkby as opposed to Everton Football Club playing football on a pitch at Goodison Park surrounded by three new stands and a renovated older one, all seating 55,000 without obstructed views and containing as many corporate boxes as they wanted......Why we couldnt go onto the next level ? Is it the Kirkby air, am I missing out here ?

By the next level you mean either winning a cup competition or winning the EPL or finishing above 5th position to qualify for ECL.......Because the last time we did all of those things, we played at Goodison Park and we loved it.

You didnt mention redeveloping GP you just said staying at GP. It would take us a lot longer to pay off our debts if we stayed at GP as it will cost a lot more and take longer

I think we should give the fans a vote and abide by any outcome of such a vote. No club ever asks the fans, cmon Kentight! We want a referendum or we'll bomb your ass with KEOIC banners!

i'm sure we had a vote and the result was in favour of the project was it not?

we need a stadium, build one now

Staying at Goodison has always been my first choice ( after Kings Dock ) and ive been ranting about staying put and redeveloping it since I became involved in these forums, because we are based there, there has been a stadium established for over 100 years, it is our home, our heritage our history blah, blah blah the club owns the site, we wouldnt be slagging each other off, we would be happy and looking forward to the future of the club as one......

It would take us a lot longer to pay off our debts.....WHY ?......who said so.......( oh yeah, Fat keith ho ho ho ) possibley ?

Where are the comparison costings ?........Non were ever done, Fat Keith said there was no plan B........

Far more informed and learned people than me say it would take 1 year longer to redevelop GP. Thats not too long for me personally.....

I agree with every thing you said spot on its just a myth about extra cash coming in at Kirkby the council have firmly nailed it.

Were only paying 78m for kirkby, and at a conservative estimate 6mths ago redeveloping GP was 150m so like kirkby that will have risen as well (My source for this figure? Ask Fat Clueless Dave Kelly of keioc), while your at it ask him if bernie ecclestone has called him yet on his everton ringtone mobile
Am sure with this figure you can do the math as to why it would take longer to clear the debt

Sorry if our opinions dont agree with yours
The 'game' in question was not a dig at what you were saying, but the fact that the pair of you were running an identical conversation concurrently in two separate threads; it was like deja-vu all over again (as most things Kirkby related are)!:) Chill! b)

(P.S. My work requires me to move around north Liverpool so I am 'intimate' with the drags out to Aintree and Fazak, not merely as a 'once upon a time long ago' traveller.)
