HB, Has it ever crossed your mind WHY BK gave the fans the vote ? I may be a complete cynic but I would imagine that it has abrogated him of any responsibility. Apart from that the fans were fed a pack of lies prior to the vote and only now is the whole truth coming out.
For World Class Stadium read mid range stadium.
For "Deal of the century" read it will cost Everton Football Club £78m.
For transport links read "No transport links"
I do not for one moment believe that BK is trying to ruin Everton Football Club but I have to wonder what he is trying to do to our club.
To be honest Dunc I think it all stems from his desperation to cling to power as the days of the butcher ect leading his local club has gone as the cash involved means to be really successful mega cash is needed.I know people will post and say considering how much we spend we are doing well but thats the point" considering"

1) You tell me Duncan? Why did he give us the vote, maybe it was because he believed as true blue that the people of peoples club should have a say on 1 of the biggest decision in the clubs history. A vote which came back with an overwhelming majority in favour
2) Depends of your definition of WC stadium, we were never getting the Stade De France, if you thought that then your obviously very disappointed. What we have got is a stadium with a good design, 4 trad stands, plenty of exec boxes and most importantly no obstruction.
3) 78m to build a stadium like that? Sounds like a good deal to me.
4) Spending 15m+ on transport links so dont get the "No transport links"?

HB, serious question;

Dont you find it confusing how some people feel lied to, and some people dont? I mean, a lie is a lie isnt it? Black and white? It is true or it isnt? or does peoples definitions of 'lie' differ?

Struggling with this "no transport links" part

I live in kirkby and I voted yes, so i may be biased, but here goes:

1. I get the the train to Kirkdale for the match (10mins)- 20mins kirkby to central. (10/15min walk to station- similiar to kirkdale)

2. I am a cabbie and even on the saturdays when everton are not at home, county road is the slowest road outside the city centre

3. 2 M57 Junctions within 5mins of proposed site (Normal day, I know matchdays will take longer)

4. M58 junction within 10mins of proposed site

5.2 east lancs junctions within 5/10 mins

6. Bus depot on site

this is not outer mongolia (or speke), there are already pretty good "transport links", which obviously would need improving

i still think it will happen and i just hope if it does we can all get back together and put our energy into making sure that the stadium is right.

I voted yes but have my doubts now. I suppose we'll not know if its the right thing or not for another 10 years really. If it does go ahead though, every blue worth their salt has got to try and make it work.

I am in the same boat as you Chris. Really baffles me.

Its a myth thats been invented. I think the transport links is the best attribute to the Kirkby site.

Please may I refer you to MaccaBills post on the "30 min walk" thread.

30 mins walk from the stadium would be around the black bull (walton Vale). i know, as i have walked this regularly). oh and on that route you would pass fazakerly train station (20mins)

i think that there are lots of serious reasons to doubt kirkby, but i'm not worried about "transport links"

Don't interrupt them Dennis - they're clearly having fun playing their own little game together!:D

Sorry if our opinions dont agree with yours (i am not saying all of mine are right!) but, surely if you want info about "traffic links", ask someone who actually uses them daily and has proper, daily, first hand knowledge of the geography of the area and not someone who has "been to kirkby".

How dare you suggest because you actually go to kirkby and already use the existing transport (Of which is getting improved to the tune of 15m) that you know more than a no voter who has never been to kirkby in his life!
Dont you know who these people are!!(y)

Halewoodblue.....

Im not apologising for what I said, I really believe and feel it. I am a person of the peoples club too. I wont prolong an argument as others have stated what I was going to say.......But I will just add, that the hoax, charade, utter lies, call it what you will, the club duped us all into believing we had something one hell of a lot better than we might get ( what you might get ) it will never apply to me.

No, I think the definition of truth is what the problem is. What is a "world class stadium", can any of these no supporters define one in structural terms? Because the idiots across the park are builiding a stadium worth £300m, does that make it "world class".

Someone on the toffeeweb article was slatting off Chelski's ground - crap ground they said because we will use the same builders. It was comfortable, unobstructed view, and horrors of horrors had shops near it.

It may not be "world class" whatever that means, but it was better than how Goodison is now.

As someone else has said, even if we re-developed Goodison, do you think that this could be done with no debt?

Finally, did you know that when the jokers across the park build their new stadia (if they ever raise the money), it will be on a 999 year lease?

H, I recollect being told that the stadium would leave us with little debt, would be world-class and it would be able to be used for other purposes such as rock concerts. In fact, these are the reasons that, although I was against the move, I still believed that Kirkby might be a solution to our ground crisis. As far as I'm aware, it turns out that all of this is not the case. I'm not saying we were lied to, but it certainly seems that the vote was held before the facts about the new stadium were fully understood. My personal opinion is that Bully engineered the vote to go his way by paying little attention to anything other than the best case scenario. Bill, on the other hand, was probably swept along in a wave of optimism at the romance of securing Everton's future. But that's just my opinion and I'm not passing it off as fact.
