Player Valuation: £150k
Listened to talksport breakfast show this morning and Alan Brazil stated he had heard from a good source that Cahill would be going to Chelsea this summer. Just wondered what peoples thought's were, for me I can't believe it as he signed a Five year contract and is injured with a recurring foot injury. For me a total non-starter as I can't see him going from (when fit) first team starter to a squad player who gets the odd outing i,e Sidwell. The only thing that might be positive for us is that we get a large sum for him. Due to the length of contract left and for a player who has hardly played for us this season, which could go on a player as good who would be less injury prone. For me I like the lad and it would be shame to see him leave if it's true, Mixed Feelings!!! as we do need cover when he's injured i,e recent performances

He'll be 29 next year wont he? Not that I really believe this rumour, why would the richest club in the world want to sign a now injury prone midfielder who has had a poor season?

Sim my thoughts exactly, But from being a regular listener to the show, Brazil doe's have contact's at chelsea who know's???

Based on Moyes trying to build up Everton, I just don't see any of our main players leaving.

Faddy I understood because he was always on the fringes and could never break into the first team.

But players like Cahill, Arteta, Yak, Lescott, Yobo, etc... are probably not going anywhere.

If anything, we're trying to add one or two more like them.

So no, I don't see him going to Chelsea.

(Caveat: Obviously if someone offers silly money for any of our players, then we'd have to strongly consider. What's silly money? Say 17M for Cahill. Well then yeah, I'd say we'd have to sell but frankly, I just don't see those bids ever happening.)

I really didn't realize how much we miss Little Timmy in our overall scheme of things. But he add so much to our team in intangibles along with the heading presence and the deft touches and always showing up in the right place.

I agree with Welts utter bollocks.

is there a place for cahill if moyes wants to move to 442? perhaps he'd rather invest in a couple of quality central midfielders.

Though always valuing Cahill, i always thought Moyesy over estemated his importance in the team, despite at times not being at his best form this season he has one important vital influence on the team: he is our pace seter and the whole tenacity on the team is set on his dedication and effort. You hear of midfeilders being able to put there foot on the ball and slow the game down, well cahill when he doesnt have the ball speeds it up.

For me it is no coincidence that opur form has been flat since hes been out injured, hes important from an on the field, of the field perspective and is now entering his senior pro yeas and his role will be vital in guideing the young midfield talent i can see us aquireing!

I cant see Chelsea going for Tim but if they offer is big enough I think he would go and as already stated he is not as good playing in a four man midfield so if Davy is considering a change in tactics who knows(y)

Chelsea don't even know who will be their manager next season so how talk sport can justify this load of [Poor language removed] is rather baffling to say the least.

Tim is contracted to EFC and loves the club. The teams perfornmances this season with him missing have been poor, put him in, even when he's playing badly, and we win, its his infectious enthusiasm, its second to none. As for him going to Chelsea if there is any truth whatsoever to this then he is worth as much Anelka and possibly more than that to us.
