Cahill on saturday

Hi lads, first post. Been watching the forum for a while and it looks by far the best and most friendly for a more mature thinking fan. So to the point i'd like to make.

Does anybody think there's a chance that Jo could play on the left? (I didn't think that Anichebe would be any good on the right last season but the first couple of games impressed me maybe Jo could?) then switch Pienaar to the right bringing Osman to the middle.

After watching the game on Saturday I think Cahill (probably the best second striker in the prem) isn't suited to the middle of the park without Arteta and could start on the bench against Sigma. For me Fellaini is to high up the pitch at the moment and is used a constant long ball target by yobo and hibbert to name a few. Fellaini showed good touch and distribution against Arsenal and simplifies what can be at times eratic play without Arteta. I think he could work with osman next to him, Neville behind (imo the only leader we have without Jagielka, rodwell lacking the experience). It would have to be the five in the middle because that seems the only formation Moyes has on his notepad! it's just a thought and I know Fellaini has doubters on this forum but to me showed an attitude that wanted to win on saturday and looked properly aggrieved that we played so poorly.

I know I should have used the intro page for the first post but im at work at the moment and had to write this whilst I remembered it!
p.s pineapple on pizza is a yes for me.

you couldn't be more wrong ;)

welcome to the site mate. as for your idea, jo on the left might work, i just think baines and pienaar work too well together to break up that unit though (based on the arsenal display, i could be wrong though).

so just so i'm picturing this right, what would your idea be for a formation (cahill on the bench, so lets say sigma):
howard
hibbert yobo lescott baines
neville
pienaar...osman... fellaini...jo
saha
i threw saha in cos you didn't really talk strikers, vaughan or someone would do though. is that what you were thinking of?

personally i'd rather see vaughan play on the right, allowing pienaar to stick to his more natural left. i've been one of the most patient posters with vaughan but its getting down to sink-or-swim time. jo has the pace for playing winger but i haven't seen him send many crosses in so i'm not sure how he'd do.
