Don’t forget the missing players in that match:

GK: Pickford > Stekelenburg

CM: Gana > Davies

CM: Sigurdsson > Dowell

RW: Walcott > Sandro

A decent performance where we created more than enough changes to win the game.
Premier league players > Bury players

And the season starts soon though.

I thought people were being quite harsh on him. Yeah that one real chance he absolutely blew, and yeah he fell over in the box and fell a couple of other times, but his corners were excellent. Thought he was just fine all in all for the second preseason game.

If we sign that big Colombian and he gets service like that on set pieces well score a lot of goals that way.

In all honesty, that was about the only thing that was decent from Sandro tonight.

You can see it in his body language, physicality, possession and ability to finish - that this guy is absolutely not a Premier League player.

He's utterly hopeless on the ball - and he'd be a complete liability lining up as part of an 11 this season.

Some folk might put a comma after "finishing" in your Sandro assessment.

Not me though, think he looked pretty decent.

Klaassen was the disappointment for me. Everyone else looked a (bit) better than i expected really, Mirallas, Martina, Kenny , Besic, Niasse etc

I think the Klaassen one is a little crazy - when you think about the fact that not so long ago, he was captaining Ajax in the Europa League final - but on a Wednesday night against Bury's reserves, he can't make the most of an opportunity to run a midfield without Sigs or Rooney in it.

These are the transfer decisions that make me sad.

Our first vaguely competitive match though, against a team who have already played a few games and whose season starts before ours.
Nothing to worry about yet.

Pre-season is all about fitness. Always has been.
The amount of fans who get their knickers in a twist because of pre-season results not going their way is insane.

Of course it’s not concerning.

These games at our stage of pre season are simply fitness and for the boss’ benefit.

If anyone is getting uptight about pre season results they need to give their head a wobble.

It was a more competitive run out then Saturday but the squad has glaring problems which needed to be addressed when Koeman was manager.

Centre backs - both Jagelka and Williams are bench fodder at best plus Pennington isn't going to magically because any better then he has sadly.

So that leaves Holgate and Keane, who prior to Saturday never played together as a 2 last season which is a shock to me.

Left back - For us to play like Silva wants we need balance and which Coleman on one flank, we need a left sided wing-back because Baines cannot cope with all the aspects of Premiership.

Robinson looked good and went forward last night but do we really want to risk not having a left back until January again?

Central Midfield - Dowell, Davies and Schneiderlin are too slow and lightweight for Bury so what happens when we play against more pace and more strength.

Add to the complete lack of creativity between them. Where are the goals going to come from?
Crosses? But neither of those 3 get into the box so we are left with Tosun or Niasse against 4.

Other options include Besic who seems like he can play out from the back but has to curb is habit of overplaying in vital areas and Connolly looks too raw to start but the biggest point is Klaassen.

Klaassen needed to awake up asap because frankly despite it being for fitness or first game back, he is further away from starting for us. Man-marked and yet when he was given time and space on the ball totally blew every pass and I mean every single opportunity. Christ he is former Ajax youth and Captain but can't string a simple 1-2.

Wingers and Attack - I think we can all agree that you are either a Mirallas or Sandro fan. At the game, it seemed that this was the most talked about point.

I saw Sandro trying and attempting to get into the game plus tracking back to help out Coleman/Kenny and yes he totally scuffed his shot but considering he had played a full 45 plus extra 20 and he had worked, I can slightly forgive him.

Where as Mirallas, the king of Everton Pre-Seasons, I don't think he has ever had a bad Pre-Seasons mainly because they are nothing games where people do the bear minimum to get through which complete sums up our Kev. If Bill hasn't announced he was getting 3 extra years, we would all be happy to get rid. I hate him!

Vlasic isn't a strange one because he isn't better then Lookman and couldn't move out Bolasie so I think he will need to show something different to find a role under Silva or more Tweets from his fit sis moaning again.

Tosun and Niasse - has to be the weirdest set of strikers since Joe Max Moore and Tomas Radzinski. They will get goals but I can't see double figures and they are very similar so maybe we need a different option.

Stay calm lads.

Everton could have had 5 or 6 on another day, if Niasse had his shooting boots on.
He hit the post 4 times and two were absolute sitters.
That was Bury's 4th game and our second, even though the first was not a fitness test!

I like Antonee Robinson. I thought Dowell was lightweight and poor. Sandro never going to cut it. Klassen was poor. Vlasic missing. Lookman no show a concern.

Time to bin the deadwood and accept the losses.

THIS! especially Sandro.
Had that uncomfortable deja-vu feeling watching the game last night, a few of sub-par performances, Niasse playing a blinder etc etc.

Think that a few of our players just aren't good enough with Sandro and Klaasen topping that list, but Besic, Robinson and Niasse all did well and deserve more game time. It will be interesting to see how many games Robinson gets this season as he looks like he could make the step up.

As mentioned above it's concerning that Lookman wasn't involved as you would think he would be a guaranteed starter.

Looking forward to the start of the season, lets just hope it's better than the last one, which shouldn't be difficult. COYB.
