Burnley Case

Lionel Hutz, attorney at law. (rip Phil Hartman).
I knew you’d know who he was 🤜🏽🤛🏽

We should now sue Forest for loss of placement earnings. In the 2022/23 season they finished 2 points ahead of us with the point deduction they got the next year we'd have made more money.

Where does this end.

Leeds can also now sue us for loss of placement earnings of the same season Burnley went down.

i don't believe they can as it would be an abuse of process

according to the lawyer

"Clubs including Leicester City, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Southampton had also planned to bring proceedings against Everton, but later dropped their claims."

I'm sure the exact same rules will apply to any cases brought against top 6 clubs. Totally even treatment right across the board. I have no doubt whatsoever.
I'd imagine they will be given the "no sporting advantage was found" get out of jail card.. But can be punished financially for breaking financial rules.

This is the cherry on the cake of the absolute abomination of what the PL did to us. I expect us to appeal but there’s limited chance we’ll win, the damage is done.

We’ve been whalloped time and again by a kangaroo court designed to show the PL is tough on breaches….yet in plain sight is allowing teams to gain actual sporting advantage and pay people through offshore accounts with a slap on the wrist

Let’s not forget the PL rule book says teams cannot sue each other. Yet the “independent” commission opened the floodgates with this by saying there was a case for compensation.

Feels a bit like having one of your players sent off for a second yellow on the half way line, then the win awarded to the opposition 3 weeks after the game finishes because they may have gone on to score 14 goals had you not made that foul.

We need to march down there with Forest and say we are suing them for cheating and they are suing us for cheating. We are both also suing Chelsea, City and Leicester for cheating.

Most importantly, I assume if we have to pay Burnley to compensate them for being relegated thus trying to put them in a position similar to where they would have been had they not been, they will immediately give back all of their parachute payments.

Can’t get the “benefits” of relegation, and also refund the money you would have made if you’d stayed up.

They had zero intention of staying up this season. Banking the PL cash then the parachute payments is literally how they exist.

Between Keane, McNeil and this, we've given Burnley nearly £100m in the last 10 years.

According to some sources, the club at lowest valuation is £200m.

Just blow the transfer budget, buy Burnley and be done with any further embarrassment.
