How many people are there who, when they trace their ancestors, find that they were in fact immigrants from another country? Another country even that had been invaded/colonised by the English (who were for the most part descended from invaders/immigrants from other countries)? So how far back do you go to start pointing the finger of blame at "the Establishment"? It's futile even trying to pin the "blame" on anybody.
I don't really blame anyone. It's human nature, it's like asking a fox to be ashamed of killing chickens.

With Germany celebrating VE day for the first time and declaring a national holiday in Berlin, to celebrate the liberation of the German state from Nazi tyranny, I've been wondering myself if the UK should hold a public holiday to celebrate the fall of the British Empire. It could be an opportunity to celebrate the liberation of the likes of India (and others of course) from British oppression, to celebrate the diversity in British society today. Maybe it would help to soften the stance of gammons who want to bring the empire back, help them realise that will never happen and stem the tide of anger rippling through British politics and society today.

Who are these people you claim are wanting to resurrect the British Empire? I think your imagination is running a bit off track lollollol

Saw that one coming a mile off. Do you want me to post every single one?
Only if you insist, but you have to admit that the one you have posted doesn't really support the idea that there's loads of nutcases out there who believe that the revival of the "British Empire" is even a remote possibility. I mean you can find loads of people who actually believe that the world is flat, and post videos on Youtube that "prove" it :coffee:

There's a difference between people saying that the British Empire "WAS" something we should be proud of and people saying that they want the British Empire to be re-instated isn't there?
