If Lampard gets Derby up, 1. Derby are a far bigger and better club than Brighton, and 2. If he does ok, Chelsea will do a OGS with him.

Yes that’s really all he could possibly do. But why should they settle for that? They might just want to do a bit better. And Hughton can’t do that.

Absolutely the right decision. Playing negative 4-5-1 lump it up to striker football only works for so long. They do it every away game and all the home games against decent sides. Maybe it doesn't work out and they go down but they weren't a million miles away this year and they'll be in it again with Houghton. Nothing wrong with aiming a bit higher.

They played lousy footie. And maybe all those guys bought (not sure how much input the manager had) might get decent w/ another manager. They are still young. He's not a bad manager tho and will get hired elsewhere.

I’d argue nearly £80m is a fair bit of cash for a club like Brighton.

I think it was the right time; he’s a good manager but he’s got a low ceiling. Brighton have a cracking academy, decent overall setup & some decent players now. They need a more expansive manager to take them on.

He’s done a brilliant job but the right time to move on.
