Boxing

Brook showed balls and spirit but let's be honest if that fight went on another two or three rounds it would have been a nasty beat down and potentially career changing. Brook done well in the 2nd and 3rd but he was out of his depth in the end. He would clean Khan out though

That eye injury doesn't happen, then the outcome of that fight is very debatable depending on Brook's stamina down the stretch.

Facts from that fight - Brook boxed his head off early, made GGG miss and took some good shots and was able to keep his head and keep throwing, and unexpectedly hurting GGG.

I think GGG would have stopped him late around the 10th because he was cutting corners intelligently, but he would have took a beating to get there. Sadly we'll never know; denied a true classic.

Bit drunk watching it but he looked to be getting caught easy, good going forward but a bigger hitter would have had in trouble a few times there.
How did smith do?
He is always easy to hit, the problem is he just hits harder than anyone else and loves taking a punch.
Which Smith? If Callum he won easy as did Paul.

Golovkin isn't a great until he beats the greats in and around him. That's not even a knock on him, as obviously everyone is ducking him, but the same went for Calzaghe - ultimately though, he got the Hopkins, Kessler and Jones fights to rubber stamp himself as a legend.

Golovkin is simply on his way to greatness. He's not there yet.

I think he is, you don't have do wait until he retires to call it. Like you say everyone that matters is treating him like a case of ebola.

It will be fascinating when someone with class takes him to the 11th or 12th though.

GGG is not invincible. His skills aren't top drawer. But it will take a flawlessly executed game plan to beat him. And guts to take one of his bombs which he inevitably will land. No names spring to mind at the minute tho.

'Brook boxed his head off early' stopped reading at this point

I like Khan but Brook would kill hm, think that might be the next fight, Brooks stock has risen and Khan has a big name in America so both could potentially make a lot of money from this.

Not yet. When he gets that big fight in the states and becomes box office, people won't be able to duck the money. He's close to it now.

If I were him, I'd take on Saunders (an easy fight - decent little technician, but no power and stamina issues) to pick up another belt, then look to the big USA fight.

Until he's in an elite level fight and dominates, I'm not on board the hype train with GGG. I'll recognise him when people stop ducking him (again, I know that's not his fault, but it's still the case that he isn't fighting big fights at that weight) and he beats them soundly.

Golovkin isn't a slugger he went toe to toe there probably because he got caught up in the atmosphere and he knew brook didn't have the power to live with him, he could've jabbed his head off for a few rounds if he thought it was needed

Andre Ward?

Golovkin is and always has been a compact, unspectacular boxer who doesn't move his head. His strength - and it's an overwhelming one - is the combination of being able to cut the ring down quickly and with purpose, combined with freakish power.

GGG didn't deviate from his usual self tonight - what was different was what the opponent did.
