Still really surprised at so many writing Brook off.
Yeah, Golovkin definitely has power, but he's barely fought anyone of note, and those he has fought who are somewhat noteworthy are flat footed sluggers for the most like Martin Murray or David Lemieux, who are brave but very easy to hit. He's very rarely been in the ring with someone who moves, and definitely nobody who moves as fast as Brook. GGG is compact, amateur in his style, packs power - but on paper is tailor made for a fighter like Brook.
I really do think GGG will struggle to get to Brook, and conversely I don't think Brook will trouble GGG with his power - but he doesn't hit light either and the volume of punches from angles and getting out of the way before the return comes could see GGG look a bit silly.
I also don't think Brook has the suspect chin the likes of Khan has. For me, the smart money is on a Brook points win, which at 7/1-ish is silly odds.
I'm seeing a lot of comparisons with Jeff Lacy when he came over to fight Calzaghe. Nobody gave Calzaghe a chance and everyone expected Lacy to bang him out in short order - instead, Calzaghe boxed his head off due to the gulf in speed. I'm not saying a repeat is in the offering as I think GGG is better than Lacy ever was, but people aren't rating Golovkin on who he's fought; instead, they're assuming he can take his dominance up to truly elite level.
