Boxing

Not exactly age but Jones was a shadow of what he was by the time Calzaghe met him, like I said, not a dig, or not ruling out he could have beaten them, but perhaps he's not been given the credit he deserves for such reasons.

As for the bold bit, definitely wouldn't accuse him of that, and don't recall him being too many times either.

He was a world champion for eight and a half years, but none of the American stars would go near him until he kicked open the door by demolishing Lacy and suddenly he was the money fight.

The consensus was that he's too good to go near and the money wouldn't compensate for taking the risk.

Interesting mate, Kessler himself definitely wouldn't agree with you as i'v heard him say in numerous interviews and again today in the film that it came too soon.

He would say that though ;)

It was his 40th pro fight and double world champ going into that fight. What happened was a vastly superior technician out-boxed him - I think that would have happened at any reasonable time against Calzaghe; just like how Ward took him apart too.

Would have loved to see Calzaghe take on Ward in their primes. What a fight that would be.

See I would say that Kessler, he came in confident, unbeaten and really backed himself, was the best version, fighters say a lot of things after they lose, even a gent like kessler

Fair enough, still reckon Kessler doesn't believe he was mate, in my opinion he's not the type to keep a jarg story going all this time, he believes he improved after that fight, great scene in the film with the two of them, two warriors.

Only his 3rd outside of Denmark, was only thinking the same about Ward when I was watching that earlier.

he might genuinely believe it, i agree he's not one for bs, but I'd say he was never as relentless or confident after that fight

Also, I don't know why seemingly nobody else does, but I have Klitschko as a massive favourite for that rematch. He can't be that bad again, and I think Fury has already shown his "best".

Happy to see him prove me wrong, but for me he is one of the worst heavyweight champs ever.
yeah i really want Fury to win but i cant help but think Klitshcko will catch him, he knows hes got to put it on him this time
definitely not one of the worst world champs ever though - charles martin holds that record

Oh agreed - meant "legit" champs, as Fury is sadly one of those.

Sort of in the same category as Buster Douglas in that he's won the belts fair and square, but he's obviously not top drawer overall.

'Bellew fight at Goodison' tickets go on sale next week.
I guess Bellew got mixed up on Saturday and should have said announced Wednesday, not on sale then..

Ta for the update.. Will Everton be selling the tickets themselves do you know along with other sellers ?
