Boss Holiday

Out of all the places, we keep heading back to Italy (helps that it's nearby as well). Lakes, of course but not in high season; Dolomites are stunning winter and summer; Sicily was a wine/food/history festival; Umbria ditto; and cities: Venice, Verona, Bologna, Siena, Perugia, etc., etc.

Looking at Cinque Terre or Sardinia for next longer break down there, I think.

I am addicted to the buzz that Thailand, and especially Bangkok, gives you (although under the present political climate a dodgy area to visit). The climate, the culture, the smells and the buzz. I wouldn't want to live there but to visit is a sensory experience.

There is also a rather good tattooist there (see my photos)

My Fave holiday ever, was a little place in NE Greece near the town of Litochoro....Went there for a couple of weeks to stay with a friend of mine (she's a teacher out there) and ended up staying for 2 months....

Great memories of hangin with the pagans on the slopes of Mt Olympus gettin wrecked on tsipouro, and eating roasted wild boar cooked on open fires.

You haven't done Texas yet so you obviously have NOT had a boss holiday (yet).

I'm defo working on that, can't wait to visit. I've met so many sound people from there.

I used to live near Thessaloniki so drove that way a few times, to Meteora and over Olympus. Beautiful place, great people and awesome food.

Many nights sat up under the stars drinking tsipouro too.

Nice one....One of the things that struck me out there was that time just before the sun begins to set and the sky was all purples, blues, and reds....amazing ....[Poor language removed] those pagans had some good stuff on them.

What reminds me of it is a poem by Byron called "she walks in beauty" I dunno for sure if he was linking in the sky in greece as he spent a lot of time out there gettin upto all kinds....basically if it walked/breathed then Byron shagged it...
Anyways I digress...getting back to the poem..

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

Too me it reminds of those hazy crazy nights in Northern Greece...great place and amazing people

If you're failed to be inspired by Greece then I think you'd struggle anywhere. Some of my best times on this planet have been spent there.

It's weird as the modern conception is that the further you travel, the most extreme the experience.

We've got paradise on our doorsteps, and it's just over three hours away.

I agree...its only a few hours away so Lid's get yer trunks packed and get over to Greece, and put some much needed readies back into their economy.

get away from the tourist resorts - its marvellous

My last holiday was in Birkenhead- Boss.

But Argentina is an experience. I didn't get to see much, just Buenos Aires and Mar Del Plata. The people are truly amazing. I love the food and the women are out of this world. Didn't get to kiss any of them except my wife though.

Would love to do all of the Americas, North and South

I have to say that the water in Greece is probably as clear as it could get, the Islands are an experience that everyone should have in their lifetime.
I'd have to disagree there RBoG. It's not, especially on the islands the drinkable water isn't even from there, usually mineral water shipped there. All other water is salt water that isn't good for drinking, but is very clear. The islands, tho, are beautiful. My mom works on one of those, really want to go there this summer, hopefully i will.
This could go as advertising, haha, but if you want clear, fresh, mountain water springing, like, in front of you - come to the mountains in Bulgaria. Especially Pirin mountain (rated by foreigners, even most of whom i've talked to being from England - a few of them Evertonians too - as the second most beautiful mountain in Europe, after the Alps).

Anyway, on topic - last boss holiday i was on was exactly on those mountains. Good place that, been going there for the past 2 years now, as my dad and other relatives work there (Dobrinishte, near Bansko, which is more famous but around there the nature is atrocious cause they cut out all the trees to have ski slopes and stuff) and it doesn't cost me or him anything but the food/drinks.
If you've got facebook - here's pictures from the Bezbog hut, which stands at 2236 meters, and is an hour away from the village (30 minutes drive to the lift, another 30 minutes with it to the top).

He meant the sea water mate, how clear it is there.

I have a really good friend from Varna who works in those mountains every winter mate. The photos look stunning.

Yeah, got it after the second reading, i'm kind of sleepy so i blame it on that, sorry if i sounded offensive/jumpy or whatever. :) And completely agreed, it's crystal clear.
Really? That's cool. And yeah, i went there for 2 years every summer for about a month and it never stopped looking amazing.
