Bilyaletdinov - Massive Flop?

we did the same thing with fellaini. moyes needs to stop trying to make players into something they are not. just play the players in there preferred positions.

Exactly, who is responsible for people not knowing his true position? Moyes has to take some of the blame for his hot and cold performances.
He reminds me of a Lampard/Gerrard type player, a midfielder who isn't required to defend, a game breaker.
Unfortunately that doesn't fit the work-your-arse-off-all-day ethic instilled by Moyes, which is a shame, because I believe he would be perfect for us right now in the central attacking midfield role (the CAM as we call it in my team).
We've developed a neat passing on the deck game through the midfield now, which I think makes Cahill far less effective in the CAM role.
Perhaps we bought Bily a couple of years too early (Cahill still has the legs), perhaps Moyes should have bought the right winger we crave, but I think we need to give Bily a go, he's definately talented.

Bily is one of our most talented player there is no doubt about that, but his main problem is Moyes doesnt even know where to play him. His 2 most effective positions (LW and CAM) are occupied by Pienaar (one of our best players) and Cahill (one of Moyes favorites) so his chances of playing in those positions are slim, so all Moyes could do was play him on the RW, a position he is still adapting to in a league his still adapting to.

Then there is also the issue that Moyes won't give him a chance to get his confidence back by starting him in back to back games, cuz I think we can all agree a lack of confidence is what has been affecting Bily the most. And I totally agree we should not carry any passengers but c'mon when cahill is not scoring he offers us nothing and you could say the same about Osman (when he plays on the right) and they still play in every game or most of them. So I don't see any reason why Bily should not be given a chance. I mean Moyes should just play him and give him the same freedom on the pitch he gives Pienaar, let him switch flanks and play thru the middle if wants to. His passing and shooting are his best attributes and sticking him on one wing, or even worse on the bench, wont help the team in any way.

He needs to learn to be in the team when we are not doing well, impact on games for 90 mins instead of 20 and do all of that consistently its one thng having the talent, another to earn the right to play.

Position is the key, some players adapt some don't. Good example is Messi, play him in any other position and he'll struggle. So many of us complain that Arteta is wasted and had little impact playing in right midfield, the same applies to Billy.

For me, Billy needs to be given a bit of faith and a run in the side. And there might just be a chance for him at present.

Obviously with Saha injured and Beckford not the man to lead a lonely line, Moyes went with Cahill and Felliani up top against United. They did ok, but Fellaini was far more effective in the second period when he switched with Arteta and took up his favoured deeper role. That means that there's a spot there, behind Cahill, where Billy could fit in quite nicely in what would be his preferred central position.

Of course, I was also impressed with Yakubu during his cameo, his touch looked good and he linked up moves a number of times very nicely, he is another who needs to be given a chance but may not yet be quite fit enough to take it from the start of a game.

I'd like to see, Heitinga drop into defence in place of Distin - who was caught out a number of times vs. United - with Felli dropping in and Billy playing behind Cahill with Yakubu ready to come off the bench. For now that may mean persisting with Osman on the right hand side which is not ideal, but if we play Coleman behind him then he will at least provide the width and running that Osman doesn't down that flank.

Howard
Coleman - Jagielka - Heitinga - Baines
Fellaini - Arteta
Osman - Bilyaletdinov - Pienaar
Cahill

bily is not a flop , hes just not one of moyes favourite players yet.

arteta , neville , osman , pienaar , cahill , arteta , fellaini are all moyes golden boys and will all be picked ahead of bily at the moment.

bilys first season his goals got us 11 points and im struggling to think of any midfeilder who has got us so many points and goals in there first season under moyes.

with bily the only problem is the pace of the prem , he sometimes looks a little off pace or slow to react.but the more games he plays the more used to it he will get.

Yes I agree with this. Also we should not make it an issue that Billy is slow in pace. Hibbert, Osman,Cahill,Arteta,Fellaini are all low in pace. Hell Osman even plays iat right wing!!!!!!!

The more he plays, the more he'll learn about his team mates, learn from them...get on the same wavelength as Arteta and Pienaar are with their passing and cleverness. He'll come good, I am so ******* sure. All of my mates think he's better than Zhirkov...the new version of shevchenko at chelsea! I agree with all of them!

Seems very low on confidence. Poor decision making and ball control. I am starting to wonder. He is never going to get more game time if he keeps making these simple errors. That attempted cross today when the ball was behind him was diabolocal, as were a couple of stray passes, and that missed control at the top of the box in a threatening position. Not sure he is upto this caper!
