Bill Kenwright speech jf96

Totally agree. He is such a phoney, and everything he says makes me cringe as well. That was overly sentimental and such a pandering speech. He comes across as slimy and doesn't sound in the least bit genuine. The whole being carried over the kop sounds like the bull**** fairy tales that are passed on by them to make their history more legendary. And a fair way off the old "boys pen" stories he usually spouts.

Oh, and "The other place"? Really?

BEST... SALESMAN... EVER...

This is not a go at any Liverpool fans or families, this is not me being in any way against justice for the awful things that happened...

This is me being amazed how a few trite words from an insincere man can blind so many people.

The man is a self serving illusionist, and this is his best trick yet.

I wouldn't trust him if he told me it was Monday.

Pipe down.

Hiya lads ,do me a favour use the other threads to voice your opinion on kenwright.

Show some sensitivity.

I am so glad I don't know you.

Thank you Bill for being such a good ambassador for our club.

As others have said, this really isn't the thread for this kind of thing.

Any way, that was a fantastic speech and it was delivered impeccably by our chairman.

Well done Bill. Justice for the 96.

Sorry Bryan, like i said, i wasn't intending to be insensitive. I was more agreeing with the original quote from Joe, who was shot down for saying he also felt Bill was insincere. I agreed, and said as much.

As for using the other threads, this was the Bill Kenwright speech thread wasnt it? I thought this was the appropriate place to respond.

I am totally appalled by the things that happened that day, and hope that all of the people involved get the Justice they deserve, but amongst all of the positive comments about Kenwright, i felt some balance was required, to reflect the thoughts of people he didn't impress.

Sorry if i upset anyone here, i can't imagine why i would have.

But this is precisely the place to say what i said.

Unlike some, i was unimpressed by his speech from earlier. This thread is about the speech he made earlier. This is not the JFT96 thread.

And as for being glad you don't know me, that was uncalled for. Totally unnecessary.

if you felt he was insincere then fair enough to say but don't see any evidence for it. he has stood by the families all the way when plenty people said its time to forget about it. no idea if the stuff about the kop is sentimental but as someone who has cried several times since it happened maybe sentiment is needed cos other than that you can only feel anger. the comments about the other semi-final were really important. I walked away from that exactly as he said...from elation to devastation, then feeling guilty and stupid for taking football so seriously. only got over that when the findings came out last year. Bill has proved himself a true fan today and am so glad to be not just a blue but a fan again

Your hatred for the man is clouding your judgement. You are entitled to your opinion, but 99% of people watching that won't share your opinion. There's a time and a place, and your criticisms seem really out of place. Bill Kenwright's speech today has nothing to do with how he runs Everton and may or may not be seeking investment/a buyer. Many of us are huge critics of his, but having a go at him for a speech he made at the Hillsborough Memorial service, a speech that was extremely well received and gave great comfort to the families of the 96 seems utterly crass in the extreme. No offence, but I'm more arsed about what the families of the 96 think than you, and they seem happy enough. Have a day off mate.

I have little time for the man myself mate (yes, really!), but as big a bull****ter as he is, someone like Kenwright is very good at playing to crowds. If what he said helped the families today, that's to his credit. God knows he's a useless bugger for footy, but that much he deserves a pat on the back for.

First of all, thank you for a well reasoned response, unlike some of the other mean kids who said they are glad they don't know me and hurt my feelings.

Secondly, my feelings, my opinions of him being insincere, are just that... My own feelings and opinions. To me, he does not come across as genuine, and certianly not someone i could take seriously.

That said, he is a great public speaker.

Thirdly, my opinions and feelings do not have anything to do with the tragedy or the campaign for for justice. I have nothing but sympathy for all those people affected by that day, and i have no comprehension of what those people and familys went through.

Originally, i was replying in response to Little Joes post, which i happened to agree with.

Correct me if im wrong, but i honestly didn't think i had been offensive in my original post. It may have been slightly overly aggressive, especially for me, but the man just has that effect on me. He always seems to have an angle, and i don't buy into what he's selling.

Im sorry if i offended anyone.
