Bigger and better squad then this time last season?

He's 2-4 weeks away according to Rathbone.

He was on the bench for a few of the preseason games no?

Could be wrong like i thought it was "touch and go" will probably get him back right though.

Point being Moyes doesnt seem to concerned and frankly im not really if we feild a team similiar to the last few games of last season - like i keep saying we have an ace squad anyway.

bit disappointing to hear moyes talking crap like that isn't it.. still, i guess the guy has to say something..

obviously we still have a great team.. its just that it remains as lean as it was last season and the effect of seeing zero new signings coming through the door and the nearly-nearly ones choosing different pastures .. can't fail but to have a dispiriting effect.

the club really are letting these players (and the manager) down.. its one thing to be heralding their 'team spirit' and 'strength in adversity' .. but that needs backing up by some positive tangible action!

He had no chance of playing though, he was just there to make up the numbers. Rathbone said 2-4 weeks, he's still not ready.

If we do field that eleven we can certainly compete, that doesn't mean it's all good though. We need players, that is very clear.

We have a small squad, a number of players have niggling injuries (Pienaar, Fellaini, Saha, Jo), our best players out injured and we lack cover. And that's not being negative, that's just telling it like it is.

Was he not on the bench like for the match day squad! I could be wrong like!

No doubt mate i agree with all that. Im just baseing logic against hysteria over transfers - thats a startleing different comment from Moyes compared to some released at this stage last season, i have a lot of questions regarding improving the team if possible. But that comment makes me think a two things he is confident in what he has seen in the squad and he is confident of getting players in. Your right he does have a choice and seems to have made it for the time being anyway!

Thinking back to the team we finished the season with, i would have fancied our chances against Arsenal if Toure and adebeyor had of been out.

He's not ready mate, I know that much. Darren Griffiths who commentates on Everton Tv and is always around the players said Yak had no chance of playing and is quite a bit off. It's a serious injury, you've got to expect that to be honest.

Who knows what Moyes thinks? He hasn't been happy with the performances during pre-season and he always says he's confident we can sign players yet it always seems to be a struggle.

I'd be fairly confident - we do have a good first team and a few good squad players. We need to add to that though, if we don't we'll be overtaken.

Arsenal have Arshavin, Eduardo and Fabregas back and they've replaced Toure, It's going to be a tough game.

This is typical Moyes. He'll say something against the grain one week and then reverse his analysis the next week. He suffers from mood swings I reckon.

Well... compared to this time a year ago we are in better shape... squadwise anyway.

Nash, Fellaini and Jo are here now and they weren't when last season started. And we have only lost VdM and Valente from the team we had then. Add to that that both Rodwell and Gosling have improved, especially Rodwell, and shown that they can do a job in the midfield.

But since we have injuries on important players, Jags & Arteta primarily, we lack stability and creativity in our central line.

Why doesn't anyone else notice this about Moyes? I love Moyes for what he's done for Everton, but he contradicts himself regularly. It's like there are two people in him, Moyes 1 and Moyes 2. God knows what it will be like when Moyes 3 surfaces and Moyes 4 suddenly declares he called "Legion". :)

Aye i agree with that mate.

Arsenal will be awsome IMO. Im counting on a traditional slow start from them coupled with a good strong legged welcome to the season performence from us.

Stuck 50 notes down on Arsenal to win the league some of the players they have a trully world class. Im counting on Wilshire and Ramsey who are really special players to possibly break through this season. I expect Wenger to buy in some balance to the defence and mmidfeild before the end of the window too. though you never know whats their not obvious waiting to break through at Arsenal. You have to admit Wenger is the coolest kid around.

We have a worse squad than last season if anything.
I really wish we had someone at our club capable of telling us the truth. :dodgy:

That's actually quite telling. There are people there that I like and admire (e.g. Moyes and Neville) but there is no-one there that I trust to call it as it is. Sad really.

I don;t get that? Would you admire Moyes more if he came out and said we had made a **** up on transfers so could possibly start this season as badly as we did last?

You know why he said what he did about fitness levels as opposed to something along the lines of the above right?
