He is a manager no less no more, that situation you painted could have the same outcome with anyone at the helm. It is all a gamble but some are more calculated than others.

I don't think many want him appointed, but action is better than inaction at the moment. The players need a rocket up their arses and there isn't many better at doing that.
But in reality that just isn't true is it mate.

We've all put up with managerial appointments we don't want, and god knows how many players have been bought over the years that we knew, just knew were going to be crap. Even Rooney coming back. So many on here were against that but in fairness have generally got behind him despite him being no better than anybody else in a nightmare of a season so far.

But this is different. This is unique. I've never seen such a fan reaction to a board decision in 50+ years of supporting Everton. Whichever Everton fan site you look at the mood is the same. No other manager out there would invoke such a response from our fans. That in itself tells you he is the wrong man to galvanise everybody and get us out of this mess. In fact he's actually polarised the fans and on top of everything else that's the last thing we need at the moment.

typical Everton this

We tried to get Simeone but end up with Sam

It’s all talk to create an illusion to the fans that we are ambitious.. but when it comes down to the facts we clearly aren’t

Just like when we sold Rom and “tried” to replace him

Hopefully now fans will start realising the club is not ambitious it just likes to tell you it is to keep you buying merchandise, tickets and paying the hefty wages

No. Bad appointment but getting on the teams back and creating a toxic atmosphere wont help us improve on field. He's temporary, like a nightmare, it'll be over soon. Thanks Koeman you biff!
3 year contract isn't temporary mate. And at £6m a year for him alone, the cost of ousting him and his cronies after 6 months could amount to £20+m down the drain.

Might as well give him a 6 month contract with a big bonus if he keeps us up. At least he can't do too much lasting damage in 6 months.

Can't believe I'm even saying that tbh. But at least it's better than 3 years.

No, I won’t boo him.

Nor will I stand up and applaud the announcement either.

If Koeman was a meh appointment then Sam is an even less than meh appointment.

However I am not going into a sulk over it.

I am here to be convinced and won over so if Sam surpasses my admittedly low expectations of him then I will gladly change my opinion of him ;)

One thing I will not readily tolerate though is if he does what he did at Hammers and puts a virtual youth team out in the F.A. Cup.

The league season might well be a car crash but this particular Evertonian is long enough in the tooth to remember how Cup runs can lift the gloom in the midst of even a relegation haunted season.
