2024/25 Beto

A few weeks ago people were trawling through this thread dragging up old posts from anyone who'd ever criticised Beto.

Absolute yard dog, championship standard at best. At least that purple patch might have increased his value a bit so we can claw back some of the money Thelwell wasted on him.
Was the same with niasse when he scored a few goals for us, he can do a job or have him on the the bench, he’s not to bad etc

A lot of harsh criticism towards Beto today. First game he's looked off it. Thought he had played really well in all games under Moyes before that, even Brentford he was a handful.

I think we need to be more forgiving with our players sometimes.

I think so. Not sure why people suddenly thought he'd have the touch of dennis bergkamp. Thats whats surprised me. What he's been good at since moyes took over is being a handful when the played right. The clues are there. Look at the crystal palace goal. Fed by alcaraz. Look at the only time tonight he looked a threat. Fed by alcaraz.
Awful footballer, Bloody handful if played right.
Took us 70 minutes tonight get the handful player tactics right.
Stop playing doucoure would be a good start.

Other than telegraphing that shot I’m not so sure how off his performance was as much as the Wolves planned to isolate him and push our line back. It was successful. What you’re left with is kind of like Dom suffered under Dyche. Starting Charly with Beto instantly corrects that.

Snatched at his chance, again. When they squirrel in it's all alright, but sometimes the lack of belief in using a second to make a chance a cert is concerning.

Has to be burying more than he does. It's what separates recent prolific scorers like Yak and Lukaku. That confidence. That ability to calculate the often best outcome as instinct.
