Reading this thread has just made me realise we have been shabitte in the PL era.

We havnt had a player, in their prime, anywhere near that list have we? Hibbo excluded, obvs.

Arteta in his pomp was consensus BEST PLAYER OUTSIDE THE SKY 4! Cahill was in the final 30 for the Balloon d'or.

Difficult question given the names on the list.
In terms of outrageous confidence and showmanship I hovered over Cantona - but he wasn't around doing it as long as some of the others.
Then I hovered over Giggs, given his electric impact on games and the enormous length of his top level career.
Berghamp could read and control a ball like nobody else I've seen.
Henry - combined the positives of all the other players and would have been the obvious choice for me, but he was tainted in my eyes when he cheated Eire out of a world cup appearance with his hand ball. I hate a cheat, but unlike Steevie G who did it several times a match, it is the only time I remember Henry being one (albeit massive) - so in the end I went with Henry.

Don't get me wrong, I love Timmy Cahill. And while he was superb for us, he was never in a million years in the top 30 players in Europe.

And Arteta doesn't get it for me (again, I loved the guy, and would consider a sexual relationship with him) because how long would he fail to clear the first man at a corner?

Henry was pure joy to watch. He was the first player who had lightning speed, amazing technique and a genius brain. I always remember at Anfield when he went off the pitch and around the linesman and Carragher and skinned them!

Henry for me, it's a tough one though. Some excellent players on that list, Viera and Keane were very instrumental as was Drogba.

I think the most consistent, although defo not the best, was Ashley Cole. Was talking about him in work yesterday, he very rarely had a bad game and kept some of the best wingers in the world quiet. He didn't get the credit he deserved as he is a complete and utter bell whiff.

Kind of amazing Gareth Bale didn’t even make the list of choices.

Was he top 20 material? Most expensive player in the world at the time and sure he was great for Spurs, top 50 shout in my book. He's bloomed at Real, really happy for him he's sticking it out there, not many Brits manage multiple successful seasons abroad, but La Liga doesn't count in this poll.
