I hate you for not allowing multiple options.

Le Tissier, Henry and Shearer would have all got my vote, but I went for Shearer because Blackburn 94-95. Although that season wasn't entirely down to him, to be fair.

A certain player is missing but I guess he must have slipped your memories.

No one on an Everton forum is going to pick Stevie G so that would have been a waste of typing.

Great these sort of topics. Football is about opinions from the fans and great to see so many top players named. General concensous seems to be goalscorers, so on that basis will go for Bergkamp. Team players, toss up between Keane and Rooney, both gave 100% for their team.

objectively Gerrard was a very good dynamic box-to-box player but not world-class, he was too inconsistent (those infamous Hollywood pings) and dirty (often conceded the ball like this) to be considered here...but top 50 he'd have a good shout.

Surely the same can be said about Lampard?

Lampard's incredible goals record, lack of dirty and generally more consistent performances elevate him a class above Gerrard.

Scholes was dirty too, but a supreme ball player so he also deserves his place on the shortlist.

From our neighbours Suarez made it...Alonso not too far off. The likes of Torres, Owen, Hypia, Gerrard, Fowler all with solid top 50 shouts.

Gerrard's class is overblown not just by the RS-crazed media but even by us blues who witnessed him bring his A-game to derbies on a regular basis. He didn't (and couldn't) bring that A-game against other rivals on a consistent basis...hence he's not in the running here objectively.

Ashley Cole????? I'd say its a toss up between Shearer and Henry, although my non 'big' club nominee, although Shearer was not at particularly big clubs, would be Juninho (that spelling looks off but cba looking it up, the Boro lid) what a time that was for them when they had him, Ravanelli and was it Emerson?

also, Lampard has i think 4 Prem titles...if you can inspire your team to such heights it's a big plus in your best-ever shouts. Gerrard famously fell over when he had his one big chance to inspire his team to a title.

normally no Liverpool players would get near a best Prem-player debate as of course they've never won it, but Suarez (with Zola & Le Tiss) were ridiculously good so gets a go.
