best individual performance you've ever seen

No mate, at the time he used to write a column in one of the red tops and in one of his articles, he slaughtered Everton and I was fuming.
He used to drive an Audi and I worked at the dealer where he bought the car from... a couple of days after that article, he came into the dealer to buy some parts for his car and I had the "pleasure" of having to serve him.

I got all the parts out, brought them to the counter and then, in front of other customers, I asked his name for the invoice and cracked on I had no idea who he was.
He gave it the old, "I'm Lou Macari" routine and I said, "and? Am I supposed to know who you are?"
He said, "I play for Man United, that Lou Macari".
I said, "I'm Andy, the Everton fan who's read that crap you wrote about us in that rag paper, yeah, that Andy".
Cue giggles from other customers.
He looked at me and said, "come on son, just serve me the parts."
"Not till you say you're sorry", says I... and I just stood there till he apologised.

I then made out his invoice, no discount, and held his ten pound note up to the light as though checking it wasn't a fake.

The other customers were loving it.

To be fair to the little sod, he took it well and every time he came into the dealership after that, he'd come and talk footie with me and the other guys over a cup of tea.
Nice one Andy, lolyou should still have told him his chips were crap;)lol

Not an Everton game.

Holland v Neville Southall 1988 Euro qualifier.

A star-studded Holland team containing the likes of Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard and our very own Ronald Koeman amongst others took on Big Nev and 10 Welsh bystanders.

In the main it was a personal battle between Gullit and the Binman.

Save after save, many of them jaw-dropping world class stops had the mighty Dutch shaking their heads in disbelief as the one man army held off the non stop onslaught.

Finally, in the 88th minute, a Ronald Koeman free kick found Gullit again unmarked and a bullet header was tipped onto the bar by the irrepressible Nev with Gullit stooping to net the winner as a prone Southall was unable to prevent the rebound going in.

Despite the defeat, Gullit himself said he'd never seen a performance from a single player like that in his life.

Fat Ronaldo for Real Madrid against Man Utd at Old Trafford
Big Nev in the 1984 Semi Final against Danny Wallace for Southampton
Ian Rush in the 5-0 Derby Game :(
Baggio in every game in the 1994 WC until the final
Maradona in World Cup 1986

To name but a few. Love it when 1 player stands out so much. Beardsley was MOTM every week when he played for us, but that was because the rest of the team were, let's say, average.

inspired by @abelard in the World threads:

I'd probably rank Fellaini's effort in that game as the best one-off performance i've seen from someone wearing our shirt, regardless of his later (or earlier) form and achievements. It was against world-class opposition too and he bossed all of them the entire match.

Shout out to Arteta vs Fiorentina , Saha vs Blackpool, most games featuring Big Nev, the odd Kanchelskis cup tie...loads of other candidates.

If you had to pick one, what's the best one-off performance you've seen?
Andy Gray against Bayern Munich he totally destroyed there back 2 centre halves , it was that bad a beating there coaching staff were banging on the dug out roof in frustration saying to Howard ,Mr Kendall this is not football it's warfare . Howard duly replied along with the rest of his bench **** *** . Great memories

Recall Lescott producing a beast of a performance at Anfield one time. We had an injury crisis to the extent that Equadorian player with the massive legs was starting - a warm body in a blue shirt basically and he wasn't the only one. So a bit of a wrecking was on the cards but we got away with a gritty draw [maybe Cahill scored?] and Lescott was immense at the back. A get out of my way lads I'm in charge type of performance.

Oh! Robles in the cup second leg against Wham at the Boleyn. He was a wall that day. Made all the more poignant by him fluffing his lines in the penalty shootout. He came over to us at the end to say sorry and I swear there were tears in his eyes - we were all singing his name.

Loved him ever since the goofy bugger, I wish he was better.

Straqualursi vs City when we beat them 1-0 at home. Best lone striker performance I've ever seen, I'm not sure I'll ever see that level of passion, work rate and desire ever again from a player. The poor bloke could barely walk off the pitch by the time he was subbed, he had given absolutely everything.
Give over.....he ran around but was technically turd. Amazes me howBlues rate Denis.

Andre Arshavin bagging four at the Tin Mine always made me smile.

Tim Cahill at the Etihad.

The Latch regularly

For me, seeing Ferguson score a hat-trick of headers against Bolton or Luis Saha score 4 against Blackpool has to be up there with the best that I have seen, or just in fact seeing Ferguson play.

I'm sure he done another performance against them where Wales got beat 8-0 but it literally should have been about 35-0 if it wasn't for Southall. I've tried to find it on YouTube but no joy.

yep

yep remember that game and Lescott was superb, Cahill with a near post header from a corner late on to earn a draw.

Me and my mate Kev remember one time when Pat Nevin seemed to dispossess an opponent without even tackling him. Just a magical shimmy of some sort - suddenly Pat was running away with the ball down the wing.

We still talk about it now, like it was some sort of witchcraft.
